A TIME TOGETHER IN CHOCOLATE TOWNCHAPTER ONE It was a hot Sunday during the month of June; Matthew Meckley was visiting with his best friend, AnnaSophia Robb, at her apartment located in the Rolling Hills apartment complex near the town of Shiloh. “We never get to see each other anymore,” said Matt. “You have been so busy promoting your newest movie ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” “Yes,” said AnnaSophia, “But it’s so nice to be back home. I like it out in L.A., but I miss the change of seasons here. It’s so hot in California when I have to go there for work.” “I’m just happy you enjoy acting,” Matt said. AnnaSophia giggled. “Yeah, it is fun!” “You sure like to giggle,” Matt laughed. AnnaSophia blushed and exploded in laughter. “I guess giggling is one of my specialties, isn’t it?” “Yeah, it sure is!” said Matt. “You know, we never did plan that trip to Hersheypark yet, how about we do that sometime.” “You know, I was thinking of that too,” AnnaSophia agreed. “My schedule has definitely slowed down. Traveling all over the place promoting that movie was a job. I am so happy I have my own car now that I can travel by myself instead of relying on others to take me where I need to go.” “So I was thinking, we should try to go to Hersheypark sometime this month,” Matt suggested. “The lines are not long and it’s really just the best time to go.” “Okay,” said AnnaSophia. “That sounds like a great idea. I will look at my calendar and get back to you.” Matt nodded. “Great. You know, I am so happy you have this air ventilation system in your apartment, it is scorching outside!” “Yes, that’s why I chose this place to live,” said AnnaSophia. “This is one of the apartment complexes in this area that I really liked that has central air conditioning.” “Makes all the difference,” said Matt. “Yes, it does,” AnnaSophia, agreed. “By the way, do you know of any good ice cream shops around here, I am dying for something cold and refreshing!” “There is a Dairy Queen in Dillsburg,” said Matt. “They really scoop in the ice cream there, one of my favorite places in this area to go!” “Okay,” said AnnaSophia. “By the way, do you want to come along with me, I’ll drive!” “Cool!” said Matt “In fact, I don’t even think I rode in your new car yet.” “Yes, it’s a new Ford Mustang Convertible but I’ll keep the top up so I can run the air conditioning. And besides, I don’t like to drive with the top down anyways!” “Yes, I took notice to your new car parked outside,” said Matt. “You said you had a bright red convertible, so that is how I was able to find your apartment.” AnnaSophia giggled as she walked out to the kitchen to grab her purse and car keys. “Hey, do you even know where Dillsburg is located?” Matt asked as AnnaSophia came walking back with her purse, car keys and sunglasses. “No, I don’t recall of ever hearing of a Dillsburg around here,” AnnaSophia said. “It’s a nice little town, I will show you how to get there,” said Matt as they walked outside. “You were always good with directions,” said AnnaSophia. “That’s one thing I will remember back to the day when we first met!” “I can always remember when I first saw you when Because of Winn Dixie was released way back in February. I would’ve never thought we’d be here together today on our way eating ice cream!” AnnaSophia giggled as she slid behind the steering wheel. “By the way, you’re car is a Ford Focus, right?” “Yes,” said Matt. “It’s a nice little car. It’s an automatic.” “I heard those are good cars, but I wanted something more classy,” said AnnaSophia. “So I decided to buy a Ford Mustang and learn how to drive stick shift. It’s so much fun when you get the feel of the gears and the clutch!” “Learning to drive a manual never did interest me,” said Matt. “I probably never will either.” “Hmmm,” said AnnaSophia as she shifted into reverse to back out of her parking space. “It’s really not all that bad!” Matt sighed. “Well anyways, I can’t wait until we go to Hersheypark together!” said Matt. “Even though we brought it up and confirmed it today, I am all excited and ready to go!” “Me too!” AnnaSophia giggled, as Matt instructed her to turn onto Taxville Road. “There are a lot of homes in this area,” said Matt. “It’s being built up very quickly.” “Yes,” AnnaSophia. “That is one of the major reasons I was looking into buying an apartment. I didn’t want the hassle of living in a neighborhood, although I did grow up in one when I lived out in Denver.” Once they arrived at Carlisle Road (Route 74), Matt instructed AnnaSophia to drive up through Dover and towards Dillsburg. “Dover seems like a nice little town,” said AnnaSophia as she drove through the square. “I was never up this way before.” Continuing up Rte 74, they were admiring some of the roadside scenery. “Wow, look at all those rocks over there,” said AnnaSophia. “They look like they are just naturally there, like no one put them for landscaping.” “Yes, I think they are natural rocks,” said Matt pointing over at them. “I always wondered about them whenever I travel through this area.” Anna drove through the town of Rossville. “Nice little towns through here,” said AnnaSophia. “And lots of mountains all over the place! Really nice, I’m glad you brought me up this way!” “Yeah, it is sort of a scenic route,” said Matt. “A lot better then if I would’ve taken you up the highway instead.” AnnaSophia giggled again with both of her hands gripped tightly to the steering wheel. “Boy you love to giggle!” Matt laughed. “I always thought you were sweet ever since we’ve met.” AnnaSophia blushed. “I mean you have a sweet personality about yourself,” Matt said. AnnaSophia was still blushing and giggling. “You are sweet yourself, Matt!” Matt just laughed as they continued on what was now York Road, which led them into the town of Dillsburg. Matt instructed AnnaSophia to pull into the Dairy Queen parking lot, right across from Haar’s Drive-In Theatre. “Oh, I love drive-ins!” said AnnaSophia. “And they are playing ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’! I wonder what I look like on that big screen to all the people who see it.” AnnaSophia said. “We never had a drive-in where I lived in Denver; at least I know where I can find one now! “Hey Anna, since you were nice enough to drive us here, I’ll buy for our ice cream,” Matt offered. “How sweet of you,” AnnaSophia blushed. “I’ll be glad to accept!” They walked inside and decided on what to buy. “Ummmm…I have no clue what I want,” said AnnaSophia. “Too much to pick from!” “I am getting the mint Oreo Blizzard,” said Matt. “I get that just about every time I come here.” “Maybe…” said AnnaSophia. “Maybe I’ll get the banana split Blizzard. Is that any good?” “I heard it’s good, but get it if you want, it’s on me.” “You are so sweet Matt,” AnnaSophia blushed. While Matt was ordering their blizzards, AnnaSophia wondered over to find a table. She sat down with her purse over her shoulder daydreaming. Matt finally came over with their blizzards. “Yo Anna, are you okay?” asked Matt. “Oh, I’m sorry,” said AnnaSophia. “I was just daydreaming”. Matt laughed. “Well tell me what you think of it.” “Oh Matt, it’s simply delicious, thanks so much!” AnnaSophia said as she stuffed a wad of ice cream into her mouth. “Hey no problem,” said Matt. As they were enjoying their blizzards, AnnaSophia looked out the window and saw someone pull into the parking lot in a Mercedes B-Class Sports Tourer. “That looks like Freddie Highmore, one of my co-stars from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!” said AnnaSophia. “Or maybe my eyes are just playing tricks on me!” “It’s got to be your eyes,” said Matt. “I thought Freddie lives in London.” “That’s what I thought too,” said AnnaSophia. “Him and Julia were showing me around while I was there for the London Premiere.” Suddenly he walked in the door and over to the counter. “That is him!” said AnnaSophia. “I can hear his English accent over there!” “Wow! Freddie Highmore is here in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania?” Matt said in awe. “I can’t believe that!” After he ordered an ice cream cone, he came walking towards their table. “Is that you AnnaSophia?” said Freddie. “Freddie!” said AnnaSophia. “What on earth are you doing here?” “I may just be asking you the same question,” Freddie responded. “Oh and this is my friend Matthew.” AnnaSophia blushed. “He is the sweetest guy you could ever meet!” Freddie and Matt shook hands. “I can not believe I am shaking your hand!” said Matt. “And Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was just released a few weeks ago!” “Here Freddie, sit down,” said AnnaSophia. “Matt and I were just enjoying some blizzards.” Freddie sat down with them. “So what brings you to York County, out of all places?” said Matt. “Well, I wanted to leave London since the Premiere of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was over. There has been so much violence going on there lately.” “Yeah, I heard,” said AnnaSophia. “It’s a shame; London is such a beautiful city!” “So I thought it’d be nice to move to America. And I heard Pennsylvania was a beautiful state to live in, so I started searching the area. I finally found a nice fancy place in York.” “So that’s where you’re spending all your money from acting!” AnnaSophia joked. “Where in York?” asked Matt. “It’s a fancy house on Taxville Rd.” Freddie replied. “It has a long driveway and a horse stable, although there are no horses there anymore.” “Wow, that’s right down the road from me!” said AnnaSophia. “I live in the Rolling Hills apartment complex.” “Cool!” said Freddie. “How about you Matt? Where do you live?” “Not that far from AnnaSophia either,” Matt replied. “I don’t know if you are familiar with the town of Spring Grove, I live near there.”

“Okay,” said Freddie. “I know someone who wrote to me once that lived in Spring Grove.” “That’s cool,” said AnnaSophia. “Does your fan still live there?” “I don’t know,” said Freddie. “I think he might’ve moved away, but I’m not too sure.” Further into their conversation, a young girl drove into the parking lot in a BMW 530xi Sport Wagon and parked next to AnnaSophia’s car. “That looks like Julia Winter!” said Freddie pointing out the window. Julia got out of her car, walked through the door and over to the counter. “Oh my gosh, it is Julia!” said AnnaSophia in awe. After Julia got a small dish of ice cream, she noticed Freddie and AnnaSophia sitting at the table and came over to join them. “Hey, what are yous doing here?” asked Julia “Have a seat and join us!” said AnnaSophia as she finished the rest of her blizzard. “I want to introduce you to my friend, Matthew. He is the sweetest guy you could ever meet!” Julia giggled as she sat down beside Matt. “Nice to meet you!” “Nice to meet you too!” Matt replied. “By the way, what brings you to the beautiful state of Pennsylvania?” “Oh, I decided it was time to move away from London,” said Julia. “Too much violence going on over there. I take piano lessons near here and decided to stop for some ice cream on the way home. I live near the town of Dover.” “So what made you pick Pennsylvania?” asked AnnaSophia. “I heard it was a beautiful state to live in and I was always fascinated with the change of seasons,” said Julia. “Wow, both Freddie and Julia decide to move from London to Pennsylvania for the same reason!” said Matt. “Well, I hope you both enjoy living here!” “Yeah, I know I will!” said Freddie. “Although, it was tough going through the procedures to become a U.S. citizen! I was always fascinated with the United States of America. I’ve been here so many times. Besides the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Premiere, I have been to places like the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore and Disneyland!” “Wow, you’ve been everywhere!” said AnnaSophia. “I am glad you enjoy this great country,” said Matt. “How about you Julia?” “Well, I have not been to that many places for sure,” said Julia. “Just a few around the area where the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Premiere was.” “Oh yeah!” said AnnaSophia. “I remember you told me you were going to go to Universal Studios out in Hollywood! Did you like it?” “Yes, it was fun!” said Julia. “Actually when I officially moved here and found a house, I wanted to drive so badly, so I learned stick shift and bought my car.” “Yeah, it looks like a BMW station wagon,” said Matt. “I can tell by the style of it.” “Yes, it is a 2005 BMW 530xi Sport Wagon,” said Julia. “I love to drive it!” “So that answers the question of how you got started driving,” said AnnaSophia. “I still can not believe this! This is like a ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ reunion!” “I would’ve never have thought we would have met like this after the premieres!” said Freddie. “I’m still in shock! They are even playing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at that drive-in theatre across the street!” “Anyways, what were yous up to before we arrived,” asked Julia. “Well, Matt and I were planning a trip to Hersheypark,” said AnnaSophia. “I always wanted to go to there.” “What’s Hersheypark?” asked Freddie. “I never heard of it.” “It’s a theme park located in Hershey, where the Hershey chocolate factory is located,” said Matt. “Oh, Hershey, Pennsylvania!” said Julia. “I’ve heard of Hersheypark before!” “Yes, they have ten roller coasters there,” said Matt. “Ten roller coasters?” said Freddie. “I love roller coasters!” “That’s cool!” said Matt. “Any theme parks around where you lived?” “Alton Towers and Blackpool Pleasure Beach,” said Freddie. “I loved the Pepsi Max Big One!” “I heard of that roller coaster before,” said Matt. “Isn’t that a hypercoaster?” “Yes!” Freddie added. “Yes, that’s it!” “I really loved Alton Towers!” said Julia. “There was a roller coaster there that took you straight down!” “You mean Oblivion,” said Matt. “Yes, Oblivion,” said Julia. “Man, I loved that ride! said Freddie with excitement. “I can see Matt and Freddie have a lot the same interests,” AnnaSophia laughed. “Indeed,” Julia smiled. “Hey why don’t we invite them along with us to Hersheypark?” Matt suggested. “Yeah, cool idea!” AnnaSophia agreed. “What do yous think?” “Yeah if they have ten roller coasters, I’m definitely there!” said Freddie. “Maybe Matt and I can ride them together!” “Yes, I’d love to check it out!” said Julia. “Thanks for the invitation!” “Sure!” said AnnaSophia. “How about we meet at one of our houses and talk about it more,” Matt suggested. “I have a computer at my house, we can access the net and check out Hershey’s website.” “Good idea,” said AnnaSophia. “But, I have a cable modem since I need my phone line open for when my agent calls me, so we could use my computer.” “Yes, I am hooking to cable too so my agent can contact me as well,” said Julia. “Actually, I am getting a new agent since I’m now living in the U.S.” “I should check into that,” said Freddie. “I am not all moved in yet, I still a lot to do.” “Well how about tomorrow, we all meet at my apartment,” said AnnaSophia. “Okay,” said Julia. “Where in Dover do you live?” asked Matt. “Off of Carlisle Road,” Julia replied. “I think it’s Conewago Road, it’s just north of Dover.” “We passed there coming up here!” said Matt. “I know exactly where you are located, area-wise.” “That’s cool!” said Julia. “I’m just right off the main road, so it’s not hard for you to miss me.” The four of them got up and walked outside. “So what brought you up through here today?” Matt asked Freddie. “I was just driving through trying to get a feel for the area, since I’m going to be leaving here permanently. And when I saw this Dairy Queen, I decided to stop for some ice cream to cool off,” Freddie replied. “Yeah, it’s scorching out here today,” said Julia. “Well AnnaSophia, you have my email so I’m going to get out of here,” said Freddie. “It was a pleasure to meet you Matt. I’m glad we have something in common!” “Yes, this is a HUGE, unexpected surprise!” said Matt. “AnnaSophia and I decide to take a drive up here today for some ice cream, only to find out that you and Julia are living here permanently! I still believe I am talking to the both of you in person right now!” Julia laughed. “Yeah, it’s funny how fans of mine come across me unexpectedly!” AnnaSophia giggled. “AnnaSophia has been giggling a lot lately,” said Matt. “Oh yeah,” Julia agreed. “Anna can definitely be a giggle person!” “Well I am going to split,” said Freddie. “AnnaSophia, you know my email, just email me a time when we’re gonna get together tomorrow at your place.” “I will!” said AnnaSophia. “Okay, see ya all tomorrow,” Freddie waved, as he walked across the parking lot to his car. “I was surprised to see him here too,” said Julia as her, AnnaSophia and Matt were walking over to Julia and AnnaSophia’s cars. “I was not expecting that at all, since it is not even a month since we attended the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Premieres.” Matt and AnnaSophia were checking out Julia’s car, which was parked right next to them. “You have a nice car,” said Matt. “I love to drive,” said Julia. “It helps when you have a nice car to drive.” “I can’t picture you being into cars at all,” said AnnaSophia. “You never even mentioned them at the premiere.” “I wasn’t driving yet,” Julia added. “As soon as I moved here, I bought this car and learned how to drive a stick shift.” “I think driving a stick shift is fun,” said AnnaSophia as Julia was looking at her car. “Yes, I rode with Anna up here and she does know how to shift those gears around,” said Matt. “She’s really good at it!” “You got a nice car here,” said Julia. “It looks like a Ford Mustang.” “Yes it is,” said AnnaSophia. “Except I drive around with the roof up because I hate the wind blowing in my face while I’m driving.” “Yeah,” said Julia. “But I sort of think it would be awesome to drive with the roof down. I never tried it but if I had a convertible, I’d give it a try.” “And have your long dark hair blow around!” Matt joked. The girls both laughed. “Well, I guess I’d better let you go,” said Julia. “It was a pleasure to meet you Matt. Anna was right, you are sweet!” Matt laughed. “Yeah, I guess we’d better go too!” said AnnaSophia. “By the way, did you see the drive-in across the street?” “Yes, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is playing there,” said Julia. “That would be cool to see myself on that big screen over there! So I guess I’ll see yous tomorrow.” “Yes, and I will email you,” said AnnaSophia. “At least you’ll pick it up fast since you have cable.” “I should,” said Julia as she was getting into her car. “Bye!” “Bye!” AnnaSophia waved as she slid into the driver’s seat of her car. On the way home, AnnaSophia and Matt were talking about their sudden encounter with Julia and Freddie. “I am so excited that Julia and Freddie are going to Hersheypark with us!” said AnnaSophia as she shifted into high gear driving down Carlisle Road. “I’m happy I have another friend that loves roller coasters!” said Matt. “I could tell that,” said AnnaSophia. “I still can’t believe that Julia and Freddie are living here in York County! I’m still speechless!” “They’re gonna love it here,” said Matt. “Yeah,” AnnaSophia said. “Especially where Julia lives, it’s so pretty through here along this road. The small towns and all!” AnnaSophia remembered the route Matt told her that she was able to find the way back to apartment all by herself. “I can see now, you’re getting the ability to find yourself around here now!” Matt joked to AnnaSophia. AnnaSophia giggled, as she parked the car. “Matt, do you want to come back in again; I am going to email Freddie and Julia about tomorrow. I still have to look at my calendar to see when I will be able to go to Hershey.” “Sure,” Matt replied. “I wonder if Freddie’s email is working yet, since he is not all set up yet at his new house.” “Even if I send him an email, he should pick it up,” said AnnaSophia. “But that would sort of be useless, would it?” “Hmmmm,” Matt added. “Do it anyways, he still has the same email I would think.” “Yes, I am going to still do it,” AnnaSophia giggled as she put her purse and car keys in the kitchen. “Before I email them, would nine o clock be too early for you?” “No, that’s fine,” said Matt. “Just ask Julia and Freddie the same thing.” “Okay, that’s what I was going to do,” said AnnaSophia as she turned on her computer. “Cool, you are so lucky to have a cable modem!” said Matt. AnnaSophia giggled. “It really works out for me with the kind of work I have. And I love to be able to get online so quickly too!” “Well, let’s try to send an email to Freddie first,” said AnnaSophia. “Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope he receives it! This is so funny because I was going to email him earlier this week to see how he was now I am glad I did not.” After emailing Freddie, AnnaSophia automatically sent an email to Julia. “Okay, e-mail’s done, now we just have to wait for them to answer,” said AnnaSophia. “I am happy we can share our time together at Hershey with them!” “Yes, especially after I found out Freddie loves roller coasters,” Matt chuckled. AnnaSophia burst in giggles. “You and Freddie are going to enjoy yourselves for sure!” Matt laughed. “Well, I guess I will be back here again tomorrow.” “Yes,” said AnnaSophia. “Also, do you want me to email you after Freddie and Julia e-mail me back?” “Yes, please do!” Matt replied. “I will be waiting to hear from you.” “Okay, I will,” said AnnaSophia, as she was walking Matt to the door. “I really appreciated that we got together today just to catch up!” “I do too,” said Matt. “I can’t to see you tomorrow again.” “Me too!” AnnaSophia giggled. “Stay safe traveling home!” “I will,” said Matt as he was walking over to his Ford Focus.
Meanwhile, later on that evening after AnnaSophia was finished making herself some dinner and was finished eating, she walked back the hall to her computer to check up on her email. She was very happy to see that Freddie and Julia have both replied to her message. “Yes, I am happy Freddie picked up his message,” AnnaSophia said to herself as she was typing back to him. After replying to both their emails, AnnaSophia emailed Matt informing him that their time was okay with Freddie and Julia. Matt happened to be at his computer when AnnaSophia e-mailed him. “Yes, Freddie received it,” Matt said to himself as he was replying back to her. “So it’s a nine o clock tomorrow at Anna’s apartment.”
The next morning came quickly. AnnaSophia came downstairs early to eat a quick breakfast of toast and cereal prior to Matt, Freddie and Julia arriving. She breathed a sigh as she quickly poured milk into her cereal bowl. Shortly after she was done catching up with her newspaper and eating her breakfast, her doorbell rang. “Oh hey Matt, come in, I was just finishing my breakfast,” said AnnaSophia. “Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you were done eating breakfast by now.” “It’s okay Matt, said AnnaSophia, as she led him into the kitchen and offered him a banana from the basket of fruit that was sitting on her kitchen table. “I’m glad you like to be early.” “Thanks for the banana,” Matt complimented. “I did not eat anything this morning cause I was excited about getting together to plan this trip to Hershey!” “Me too,” AnnaSophia giggled. “But I had to force myself to eat something. So I sat here and was looking at the newspaper while I was eating.” Matt laughed as he bit off a part of his banana. After a short conversation in the kitchen, the doorbell rang again. “Let me get that, it’s probably Julia or Freddie,” said AnnaSophia as she dashed through the living room. While Matt glanced at the open newspaper lying on the kitchen table, AnnaSophia came walking into the kitchen with Julia. “Hey there,” said Matt. “It’s nice to see you again!” “You too!” said Julia, being very happy. “Yes, Matt was responsible for giving those driving directions for me to pass along to you and Freddie,” AnnaSophia blushed. “He is so sweet!” “Yes,” Julia agreed. “I’m sorry if I am a little early; it didn’t take me as long to get here since the directions weren’t hard to follow. You are excellent at navigating Matt!” “Thanks,” said Matt. AnnaSophia offered Julia a piece of fruit but she did not accept. “I had a light breakfast this morning,” said Julia. “Then I had to let my puppy out before I came over here.” “Oh, you have a puppy?” said AnnaSophia. “I never knew that!” “Yes,” said Julia. “It’s a Yorkshire Terrior; I named it Violet since I loved that name from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” “Awww,” said AnnaSophia. “You named her after my character from the movie.” “Yeah, I loved that name!” said Julia. “That’s really sweet,” said Matt. “I’d love to see your puppy sometime!” “Maybe you can,” said Julia. “You said you knew where I lived when we talked yesterday.” “Well, the area, but not your address,” said Matt. “I’ll give it to the two of you and Freddie,” said Julia. “Because you all are welcome to stop by whenever you’re around the area.” “Thanks, that’s nice of you!” said AnnaSophia as the doorbell rang again. “That’s got to be Freddie, hold on one sec!” Julia started to laugh. “Anna’s is such a sweet friend!” “Yes, she is” Matt replied. “I remember when she and I met online, she was the nicest person.” Julia and Matt came walking into the living room. “How’s my coaster pal?” said Freddie as he came over and gave Matt a high five. “He’s doing absolutely great,” said Matt. AnnaSophia and Julia stood and laughed. “You guys definitely got a friendship going,” AnnaSophia giggled. “I’m happy to have found someone who loves roller coasters!” said Freddie. “Mainly, “I’d just ride them with my father and my brother.” “Well, this is gonna be a lot of fun,” said Matt. “Hey, let’s go back to my computer and we can pull up Hershey’s website and check dates, times and all that stuff,” AnnaSophia suggested. “Okay,” said Julia. “I guess we need to get our day planned.” “Yes,” said Matt. When they were all gathered at the computer, AnnaSophia pulled up Hersheypark’s website and went immediately to the 2005 operating calendar. “Okay, it looks like the park is open mainly until ten through the rest of this month,” AnnaSophia commented. “Does any day the rest of this week look good to any of you guys?” “The rest of the week is good for me,” said Freddie. “I am just busy unpacking, but I can take a day off.” “Yeah, me too, “said Matt. “The rest of this week is fine for me too.” “Me too,” said Julia. “My piano lessons are over for this week so that won’t interfere with our trip at all.” “Okay,” AnnaSophia added while she was scrolling through the June calendar on Hersheypark’s website. “How about tomorrow or Thursday?” “Definitely tomorrow!” Freddie chimed in. “I got to ride those roller coasters!” AnnaSophia giggled. “You and Matt have an interesting sense of humor! I am also very eager on visiting the park myself since Matt has always been showing me stuff and talking about.” “Yes, let’s just make it for tomorrow,” Julia agreed. “Wednesdays are not bad at all to visit,” said Matt. “It’s the middle of the week and the crowds are very low.” “Okay, then tomorrow it is,” said AnnaSophia as she wrote it down on her desk calendar, along with all of her other filming projects and other important stuff. “Also, if it’s okay with Julia, maybe we can meet at her house, it’s about halfway up to Hershey from where she lives alone and I know exactly how to get to the highway from where she lives.” “Okay with me,” Julia agreed. “Then maybe Freddie and you come here and we could ride up to Julia’s house together, and then switch over from there,” AnnaSophia suggested. “Yes,” Freddie agreed. “I live just right down the road from here.” “I agree with you,” said Matt. “Okay, then we’re just about set,” said AnnaSophia. “One more thing….what time should we meet?” “The park opens at ten and I would try to be there an hour early at all costs,” Matt added. “Then why don’t you and Freddie try to be here around eight at the earliest and then leave for Julia’s house right away,” AnnaSophia suggested. “That’s if that’s not too early for yous.” “No, not at all,” said Matt. “I’ll be here at eight, you know that!” “Me too!” Freddie agreed. “Is that fine with you Julia?” asked AnnaSophia. “No, not at all,” said Julia. “When the three of you arrive at my house, then maybe we can go in my BMW Sport Wagon, it probably has the most room out of all our cars and I love to drive anyways!” “Okay,” said AnnaSophia. “I’d love to ride in your car,” said Matt. Julia laughed. “Okay, then I’ll drive to Hershey! Matt, you’ll have to show me how to get there though!” “I will, “said Matt. “In fact, you’ll find it rather easy to get to the main highway from where you live.” “That’s great to hear, “said Julia. “I can’t wait for tomorrow!” “Me too!” said AnnaSophia. “I am anxious to see Hersheypark for myself!” “Well, I will should go home and continue unpacking the rest of my stuff,” said Freddie. “I got a full day at Hersheypark ahead of me tomorrow!” “Yes,” said AnnaSophia. “And I must go and buy the Hersheypark tickets!” “Oh do you want us to pay you?” Julia offered. “If you want to,” said AnnaSophia. “But why not I just pay for the tickets, it’s my treat!” “Awww, how sweet of you,” said Matt. “You don’t have to do that.” “Well, I want to,” said AnnaSophia, as they all walked into the living room. “You three are my friends; this is my way of showing how much I really appreciate our friendship!” “I will see you all tomorrow,” said Freddie as he walked out the front door then waved. “Yeah, can’t wait to hit the coasters with you,” said Matt. Freddie laughed. “Can’t wait either! See ya!” AnnaSophia was giggling, and Julia was laughing. “You could’ve not have found a better person,” said Julia. “Yeah, those two are definitely made for each other,” said AnnaSophia. “Well, I must get home and get some piano practicing done,” said Julia. “Since I will be at Hershey all day tomorrow with you guys.” AnnaSophia and Matt walked with Julia to the front door. “Bye!” said AnnaSophia as she and Matt were waving. “Bye!” Julia said walking over to her BMW Sports Wagon. After AnnaSophia closed the front door, she remembered that she must travel to AAA’s to buy the Hersheypark tickets. “Oh yes, I better let you go,” said Matt. “I was sort of wondering if you wanted to come along,” AnnaSophia blushed. “We had so much fun yesterday!” “Well,” Matt added. “I can accept that!” AnnaSophia giggled. “Great, let me get my car keys and purse.” “Ummhmm,” Matt interrupted. “How about we go in my car this time?” “Yeah,” AnnaSophia answered. “But I would like to drive if you don’t mind. It’s sort of fun!” “Well, okay,” said Matt. “I can not complain.” “You’re the best!” AnnaSophia giggled as she dashed into the kitchen. “Be right out.” Matt was looking at all the “Because of Winn Dixie” DVD’s AnnaSophia had piled on her bookshelf. “Wow!” said Matt. “I never knew you had so many ‘Because of Winn Dixie’ DVD’s!” “Yeah, they sort of kept giving them out to the cast as presents,” said AnnaSophia as she came walking back into the living room with her purse and car keys. “There is no reason for me to keep of all of them, feel free to take one home with you if you would like.” “Oh thank you,” said Matt. “Now I do not have to wait for them to come out into the stores.” AnnaSophia giggled. “Yeah, you’ll have to watch the special video commentaries that Jeff Daniels and I did. I though we both did great jobs explaining different scenes.” “I’ll have to check that out,” said Matt. “Thanks again for the DVD!” “Hey no problem!” said AnnaSophia as they walked out to her car. “I like your car,” said Matt. “The seats are comfortable.” “That’s another thing I love about my car!” said AnnaSophia as she slid into the driver’s seat. “Besides shifting the gears!” “I think Julia loves care more then you,” said Matt. “Yeah, that sort of surprised me,” AnnaSophia said as she shifted into reverse to back out. “That’s definitely the last thing I would have ever thought Julia would ever have on her mind.” Once again, they had an enjoyable conversation on their way to pick up their Hersheypark tickets. “This trip is coming up so suddenly,” said AnnaSophia. “I wouldn’t have expected for us to plan it so soon.” “I’m glad we’re going tomorrow,” said Matt. “Yeah,” AnnaSophia agreed as she parked the car. They walked inside the AAA’s building and up to the front desk to pick up their Hersheypark tickets. “This is so exciting!” said AnnaSophia. “I was never to Hersheypark before. I am anxious to go!” “Yes, you will be,” said Matt as the desk clerk handed AnnaSophia the tickets. “I am curious how Freddie will re-act when he sees all those roller coasters.” AnnaSophia giggled as she dug out her wallet and gave the desk clerk the right amount of money. “I hope you guys have a good time,” said the lady at the desk. “Yeah, my friend here is the only one out of the four of us who has ever been to Hersheypark before,” AnnaSophia commented. “We’re going tomorrow.” “I heard the weather is supposed to be really nice and comfortable for tomorrow,” said the desk clerk. “That’s great news,” said Matt. “I have not been following the weather lately.” “Thanks for the tickets,” said AnnaSophia. “Sure, no problem,” said the desk clerk. “I hope you all have a great time.” “We are,” said Matt as they turned and walked out the doors. They walked out to AnnaSophia’s car. “I like the tickets,” said AnnaSophia looking at them. “They are cute.” “Yeah, not all parks make them like that,” said Matt as he got into the passenger’s seat beside AnnaSophia. “I have not been to a lot of parks in my time,” said AnnaSophia as she started the car and shifted into gear. “Ever since I have started acting, I have been too busy for that kind of stuff. I’m really looking forward to this trip and am very eager to visit there!” “Once again, AnnaSophia drove carefully back to her apartment. “Well, I guess I will see you tomorrow,” said Matt. “Yes, at around eight,” said AnnaSophia. “Then you, I and Freddie will travel to Julia’s house.” “Yep, I am all excited,” said Matt. “Bye,” said AnnaSophia as she walked up to her front door. The day continued on and finally, evening came. It was decided by all to turn in early since they all would rise early the next morning to prepare for what would be very busy start for their day at Hersheypark.

CHAPTER TWO
The next morning came quickly. At about seven thirty, AnnaSophia came walking down the stairs to her living room with her sunglasses, purse, sun visor, water bottle and the Hersheypark tickets. After fetching the morning paper, she walked into the kitchen and sat at the kitchen table reading through the paper. In about fiveteen minutes, her doorbell rang. She immediately raced through the living room to answer the front door. “I had a feeling it was you,” AnnaSophia giggled. “You are so predictable!” Matt laughed. “I’m not a late guy!” AnnaSophia kept giggling as she let him in. “Yeah, I remember you telling me that.” “By the way I like your sun visor!” said Matt. “Do you still have your sunglasses?” “Yes,” said AnnaSophia. “I wore them both out to L.A. to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Premiere’. If it’s sunny out, I never usually go anywhere without them!” “Hey, I had to check out those video commentaries that you did for “Because of Winn Dixie’. I thought you did an incredible job!” “Why, thank you.” said AnnaSophia. “I enjoyed doing that; it was a lot of fun.” Since AnnaSophia kept her front door open, Freddie walked up and knocked on the screen door. “Come in,” said AnnaSophia. “It’s open.” Freddie came walking in with a water bottle and baseball cap. “Looks like you’re prepared,” said Matt. “Yep,” said Freddie. “I could not wait for this moment. “Hey guys,” Matt added. “Is it okay if we ride to Julia’s in my Focus this time? Anna, you have been doing all the driving lately so how about you get a break.” “Fine with me,” AnnaSophia added. “Hold on while I get my purse.” “I was checking Hersheypark’s website again last night,” said Freddie. “That Storm Runner looks awesome!” “I’d love to try that out too!” said AnnaSophia as she walked back into the living room with her purse. “But I don’t think Julia is into roller coasters that much.” “That’s okay,” said Matt. “I can ride the coasters with Freddie, then with you, I’ll just ride them double!” AnnaSophia and Freddie both laughed. “I saw that Great Bear inverted roller coaster seats four across,” said Freddie. “Then you, me and Anna can ride that together if Julia doesn’t mind waiting by herself,” Matt suggested as they walked out the front door. “I’m sure Julia wouldn’t mind,” said AnnaSophia Freddie sat up front with Matt in his Ford Focus, while AnnaSophia crawled into the back seat. “This is a nice little car,” said AnnaSophia. “Although I wouldn’t be too impressed driving it since it’s not a stick shift.” “Oh yeah, I forgot you said your car is a stick shift,” Freddie said to her. “Yes,” AnnaSophia replied. “I love to shift around the gears. Driving an automatic gets too boring.” Matt pulled out of the parking lot in front of AnnaSophia’s apartment at approximately eight o clock, like they planned, and headed up towards Dover. “This is the way I came home after we were at Dairy Queen the other day,” said Freddie. “I looked at my street map and this was the quickest route for me.” “It would be,” said Matt. “It did not take long at all to get to Anna’s apartment from there.” “Or to get up there too,” AnnaSophia added. Matt went through the square in Dover and on up Carlisle Road again towards Rossville. At the little mountain village of Mt. Royal, he turned left onto Conewago Road as AnnaSophia read off Julia’s street address. They found her house and Matt parked beside Julia’s BMW Sport Wagon. Julia saw them and came walking out the front door. “Yous are early!” said Julia. “Well, we left my place at eight, the time we said we would,” AnnaSophia mentioned. “The traffic through Dover was not bad,” said Matt. Julia opened and pulled up the tailgate of her BMW Sport Wagon. “I filled up a cooler with ice and we can put our water bottles in there.” “Great idea,” said AnnaSophia as she handed her water bottle to Julia. “Notice my cool looking sun visor and sunglasses? Remember them from somewhere?” “Yes!” said Julia as she took Matt and Freddie’s water bottles from them and put them in her cooler in the back of her car. “From the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Premiere! How could I not forget them! That was one of the first times I saw you after filming!” AnnaSophia giggled. “Yes, you’re right!” Julia laughed. “We’re reminiscing about that movie; shouldn’t we be getting to Hershey instead?” Freddie chimed in. “I want to ride those roller coasters!” “Well, I’m just about ready,” said Julia. “I have Violet in locked in the kitchen, so let me get my purse and we’ll be on our way,” said Julia walking back into the house. “You guys can get into the car awhile!” “Okay,” said Matt. “By the way, since I will be giving you directions, can I sit up front with you?” “Sure!” said Julia. “Be right back!” “Boy, Julia has a really nice car,” said AnnaSophia as her and Freddie crawled in the back seat. “Yes, indeed,” Freddie agreed. “A lot of space up here in the front,” Matt commented. Julia finally came back out with her purse and slid into the driver’s seat. “Okay, you’ll have to inform me where I’m supposed to go.” “Okay,” said Matt. “You surely have a nice car,” said AnnaSophia. “Thank you,” said Julia, as she shifted into reverse to back out of the driveway. “I love to drive my car! In fact, I just love to drive” “I think we know that,” AnnaSophia giggled. “I would’ve never thought you would like to drive!” Julia laughed as Matt instructed her to make a left onto Carlisle Road from Conewago Road. He instructed her to turn at Rossville and head down Rosstown Road towards the town of Lewisberry. “I always think the towns up through here are beautiful,” said AnnaSophia as she was admiring the scenery. “They have Pinchot State Park up here,” said Matt. “The big lake you just saw was part of that.” “Wow!” said AnnaSophia. “Do they allow fishing up here?” asked Freddie. “I think so,” Matt answered. “I see guys up here that boat and fish.” “Well there you go,” said Julia as she was concentrating on her driving. “I’m not a big fishing person but I do love nature!” They were admiring the scenery and eventually, Julia drove through the square of the town of Lewisberry. “Another nice little town,” AnnaSophia commented as Julia drove through. Matt instructed Julia to drive straight through Lewisberry and stay on the same road. They admired some farm fields and countryside areas as the road wound through. Eventually, they ended up over at the Lewisberry exit to Interstate 83, where Matt told Julia that this is where they would enter the highway. “Wow Matt, thanks so much!” said Julia. “I now know a quick route to get to the highway from my house! Thanks again!” “Sure no problem!” Matt replied. “I told you Matt has a good sense for directions!” AnnaSophia giggled. They all laughed. “Driving a stick shift on the highway is sort of challenging,” Julia commented, as she shifted the whole way to sixth gear. “But it’s a lot of fun and I love to drive!” Since there was not that much traffic on the highway, they were able to get to Harrisburg in less then ten minutes from where they entered the highway. “Wow!” said Freddie. “Look at the skyline!” “Is that the capital?” asked AnnaSophia, pointing to the green dome perching up above the buildings. “Yes it’s the capital,” said Matt. “Wow,” AnnaSophia replied. “I heard so many great things about Pennsylvania’s capital building. I heard that it’s one of the prettiest capital buildings in the U.S. even over our nation’s capital!” “Yeah, I heard that too,” said Matt. “And I do believe that as I just love to stand in awe and look at the building itself, it’s so impressive!” Matt instructed Julia to drive Interstate eastbound until it snaked off and headed north towards Interstate 81. He told Julia to continue driving east onto Route 322 towards Hershey. They traveled past a Wal Mart and an area with various retail businesses dotting the landscape on the opposite side of the road. “I always love coming through here when I go to Hershey,” Matt commented. “I have no reason though to wonder why I do!” AnnaSophia giggled. “You have an excellent way of making me laugh.” Eventually, Julia followed Route 322 east around the village of Hummelstown. After passing through two underpasses, they saw a gigantic billboard sign saying “Welcome to Hershey” with the Hershey’s Product Characters on it. “Yes, we finally made it to Hershey!” said AnnaSophia. “I hope we’ll get to smell the chocolate in the air!” “We probably will!” said Matt. “Almost every time I’m up here, I usually do smell it, it makes my mouth water!” Matt instructed Julia to turn off at the Hersheypark Drive exit and follow it around and underneath a bridge. They eventually entered Hersheypark Drive where there were various eating and lodging places, including the Cocoa Grill, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Bob Evans, Sheetz gas and a Holiday Inn Express. “Wow,” said Julia. “Is this Hershey? It’s pretty small!” “Well it’s sort of part of it,” Matt explained. “But the actual town itself would’ve been up the road further, past the exit where we exited off.” “Okay, “said Julia.” I was just curious because I did not see those famous Hershey Kiss lights yet.” “Oh, you’ll see them later on!” Matt replied. “Cool!” AnnaSophia giggled. “How about those roller coasters?” Freddie chimed in. “When will we see those?” “Soon!” said Matt. “Just a few miles up the road on the right side!” “This is beautiful countryside,” Julia commented gripped both of her hands tightly to the steering wheel. “This sort of reminds me of back home! There were a lot of fields and cows grazing within them!” Eventually, Julia drove through the intersection of Hockersville Road and Hersheypark Drive where they saw the GIANT Center, a state-of-the-art hockey and entertainment venue on the right side of the road. “That place is huge,” said Freddie as he was starring at it in awe. “How many people does it hold?” “I think it seats about 10,000 people, but I’m not too sure if that is the correct figure or not,” Matt answered. “10,000 people, WOW!” said AnnaSophia. “That’s a lot!” After passing a new sign and marquee that Hersheypark installed at the intersection of Park Boulevard and Hersheypark Drive reading “Hersheypark Sports and Entertainment Complex”, Matt instructed Julia to turn right onto Park Boulevard. “Wow, over there’s the roller coasters,” said Freddie starring out the other window. “And that looks like Storm Runner over there!” “Yes, the one with the red track is Storm Runner,” said Matt, as they traveled underneath a bridge that connects Hersheypark’s parking lot with the GIANT Center parking lot. “Yeah and right there is the Kissing Tower,” AnnaSophia pointed out. “I remember you showing that to me Matt!” Julia drove in one of three lanes that separated off Park Boulevard and around the GIANT Center where AnnaSophia and Freddie were taking in a better look at the building. “Wow, that place is massive!” said AnnaSophia. “I remember you talking about that place Matt. But I did not figure it was that big.” “Yes, when I saw it after construction was finished, I was shocked in awe at its size and appearance,” Matt replied. Julia followed the roadway which led into the parking toll plaza. Matt, AnnaSophia and Freddie decided to go together and give Julia eight dollars to pay for the parking. “You didn’t have to do that,” said Julia. “Well, we wanted to help out since you were nice enough to drive us up here,” said AnnaSophia. “And we figured we’ll pay for the gas or the parking.” Julia smiled as she gave the parking attendant the right amount of money. “Thank you, you three are such great friends!” Julia followed the long entrance road back around the GIANT Center parking lot where they were traveling parallel to Hersheypark Drive, and were able to get one last view of the front of the GIANT Center and the new sign and marquee before traveling through a tunnel under Park Boulevard and over into Hersheypark’s parking lot. Since it was almost nine o clock, parking attendants were directing vehicles to an area adjacent to Hersheypark Stadium and close to Hershey’s Chocolate World visitor’s center. “That sign with the flashing advertisements and the characters on it was cute,” said AnnaSophia. “Do they have the actual Hershey characters walking around the park?” “Yes,” Matt replied. “They are stationed in several areas.” “Cool!” Julia replied. “Hey, there’s another roller coaster over there,” Freddie pointed out. “What’s that one, it looks like the drop curves around on itself.” “That’s the Wildcat,” Matt replied. “It was built almost ten years ago.” “Wow!” AnnaSophia replied. “Time surely does fly!” After Matt helped Julia with the car cover for her front window, he retrieved his digital camera and Julia went around to the back to fetch their water bottles. “At least they stayed cool while we traveled up here,” said AnnaSophia. “Mine is nice and cool.” After closing the back tailgate of her car and checking the car doors to make sure they were locked, they walked across the parking lot to a walkway that ran parallel to the tram road which leads between Hersheypark’s main entrance and the GIANT Center. They walked through a pedestrian crossing and over to Hershey’s Chocolate World. “I can’t wait to see this!” said AnnaSophia. “I would love to see how Hershey makes their chocolate!” “Are you forgetting one thing?” Julia joked with AnnaSophia. “You should be chewing a wad of gum, just like you did in the movie!” “Oh yeah!” said AnnaSophia. “I forgot about that!” “Yes, we’re doing the free tour ride, so you’re touring Hershey’s chocolate factory in a virtual way,” Matt complimented. AnnaSophia giggled. “I don’t think I have a wad of chewing gum in my purse.” “I do!” said Julia as she dug into her purse and pulled out a nice piece of Wrigley’s bubblegum. AnnaSophia smiled as she threw the wad of gum into her mouth and started blowing bubbles. “Hey, Charlie, Violet and Vercua!” Matt joked, “Ready to tour the Hershey Chocolate Factory?” They all laughed. “I am!” AnnaSophia giggled as she blew another bubble of bubblegum. They walked inside the main lobby of Hershey’s Chocolate World, where they saw a gigantic marquee with flashing and running lights showcasing the entrance and ticket area to Hershey’s Really Big 3-D Show. “I’d love to see that” said Julia. “Hey, the first show doesn’t begin until a half hour from now,” Matt suggested “Why don’t we buy tickets for the first show, then do the ride while we’re waiting.” “Hey, cool idea!” AnnaSophia laughed as she continued to chew and blow bubbles with her bubblegum. After they bought tickets for the first show, they decided to walk across the lobby and do the free Chocolate-Making Tour Ride. Freddie looked at AnnaSophia. “Violet’s entirely ready and chewing her gum!” Julia and Matt laughed. “Maybe I should act like a brat like I did in the movie,” Julia joked. “However, on the other hand, maybe I shouldn’t.” They viewed a mural of photographs showcasing Milton S. Hershey’s vision for a chocolate company the whole way up to the town of Hershey in its current form, the legacy of Mr. Hershey. “I see those roller coasters on there!” said Freddie. After the mural, they continued through the queue which resembled a tropical rainforest where cocoa beans are harvested. After passing through the rain forest, they entered the ride loading/unloading area which resembled a boat loading dock. “The theming in here is out of this world!” said AnnaSophia admiring the scenery on the walls. When they approached the revolving loading area, Matt and Freddie sat in the front seat and AnnaSophia and Julia in the backseat of their first of a group of three cars. AnnaSophia continued to sit there blowing bubbles with her wad of chewing gum. “Ah, now that’s more like it!” she giggled. The music and narration kicked on and they saw the first scene showcasing a replica of the Hershey Chocolate Factory and the Hershey Kiss Streetlights. “There they are!” said AnnaSophia. “At least they are fake ones!” “That is so cool!” said Julia as she was admiring the model factory. Moving on through the ride, they saw the process of how the cocoa beans arrive at the factory and are cleaned, sorted and roasted, followed by traveling through a replica roaster oven. “Okay, now they should crank up the A.C. in here!” Freddie joked. Matt and the girls laughed. “Especially when it’s hotter outside,” Matt replied. Following the roaster oven, they saw how beans are shattered at the breaking chambers where the shells are broken from the center of the beans which are called nibs, followed by the milling process where the nibs are transformed into a liquidy substance called “chocolate liquor” and cocoa butter. “That looks delicious!” AnnaSophia commented. “I am tempted to go in there and drink it,” Freddie laughed. “Remember Willy Wonka’s factory?” “Yes and how you could drink the water!” Julia joked. “Unfortunately, we can’t do that here.” Next, they glided through a barn where a model farm and audio animatronics cow were showcased while they learned how Hershey adds milk to their chocolate, followed by the central blending area where everything is mixed perfectly to give the chocolate its special flavor. They also saw on a huge screen, huge mixers mixing the chocolate crumb which is a brown powdery looking substance. “All those flashing lights are awesome!” said Freddie. After the central mixing area, their tour vehicle glided past the area where the drying process of the chocolate crumb and adding moisture and cocoa butter into the mixture took place as well as roll refining machines where giant rolls roll and grind the chocolate mixture until it reaches a uniform smooth texture and consistency. Immediately following the roll refining machines, they glided past the horizontal conching machines where the chocolate is refined for several hours before turning into a silky texture known as chocolate paste. “Now my mouth is beginning to water!” said AnnaSophia as she blew another bubble with her bubblegum. They now entered the area where they learned how Hershey adds almonds into their candy bars. “I never knew that!” said Julia. They saw how Hershey pours the almonds into molds and how the chocolate paste is deposited. “I never knew that either,” said AnnaSophia. “I always wonder how stuff like that could be put into the middle of a candy bar.” “Yes, I’m glad you all are enjoying this ride!” said Matt. Something that really took interest to all of them was how the Hershey’s Kisses were made. “I love how the chocolate drops out and forms that unique shape,” said AnnaSophia. “That is so cool, I just love Hershey’s candy, and it’s the best!” Ending the ride, they learned a little about the Hershey Distribution Network with a globe lit up with fast moving lights showcasing all of the Hershey Company’s different distribution centers nationwide, followed by brilliant colored banners hanging along the wall featuring all of Hershey’s products. Then came the finale in which they all sang the “Hershey’s Chocolate World theme song” together. At the very end, they glided past the on-ride photo area where they saw themselves on a screen surrounded by the Hershey’s Product Characters while their picture was taken by a hidden camera. AnnaSophia and Julia snuggled up close together and smiled in the back seat of their vehicle. “Oh, yous looked so adorable,” Matt laughed as they disembarked their tour ride vehicle at the loading/unloading area. The girls giggled.

“That was a very nice ride,” said AnnaSophia. “At least I can compare how Hershey and Willy Wonka make their candy! And I chewed gum through the tour as well!” “Sounds like something from ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ without a doubt!” said Freddie as they made their way up the exit stairs. Upon leaving the exit stairs, they followed the exit ramp around “Everything Hershey’s”, a uniquely designed retail area with bright colors and a neon fountain, filled with stuffed characters, in the middle. Halfway down the ramp, they received a free sample of the new Hershey’s Take 5 Bar. “I heard about that bar,” said AnnaSophia as she took out her bubblegum and threw in a chunk of her candy bar into her mouth. “Pretty good,” said Matt. “Yeah,” said Julia. “I was reading the label and it has a bit of everything, crushed peanuts, walnuts and pretzels mixed with chocolate.” Entering the retail area, Matt directed them back into the main lobby where they were just about to let people for the first 3-D show of the day into the attraction. The kids showed their tickets and were admitted into a waiting room filled with uniquely painted murals showcasing Hershey’s products on the walls and television monitors playing old television commercial clips for Hershey’s products. “This is so cool,” said AnnaSophia looking around the room. “I knew you would enjoy this,” Matt replied. “I haven’t seen this show in several years.” Once the doors opened, they entered another room where they were given their 3-D goggles and watched a short, but fascinating presentation on how M.S. Hershey began his chocolate business and ending with how Professor J.D. Quigley is going to present them with a lecture on the making of chocolate. Suddenly another set of doors opened and they entered the theatre. After everyone was seated, Professor Quigley began is “so-called” three hour lecture on the making of chocolate. Suddenly a voice interrupts instructing them to put on their goggles then the Hershey’s Product Characters show up and take over the show. The show concluded with “The Sweet World of Chocolate”, the show theme song. “That was funny and humiliating!” AnnaSophia laughed as they exited the theatre and threw their goggles in the bin. “I absolutely loved it!” Julia said. “Very entertaining.” Again, they exited into the Everything Hershey’s retail area, but Matt led them through a wide corridor, that most guests overlook, that led them past the restrooms and back out into the main lobby. “That was a lot of fun!” said AnnaSophia. “Let’s see, I learned how Hershey really makes their chocolate and I also got to see the Hershey’s characters come to life, very cute!” They all decided to walk out of Chocolate World and down towards Hersheypark’s main entrance. It was just about ten o clock and the gates were just getting ready to open. They made their way around the edge of the tram loading/unloading area and into Tudor Square, an area depicting an old 17th century English Tudor village, complete with a full service restaurant, a moat, stone bridge and an English styled tower, a gourmet coffee shop and several gift shops. “This reminds me of the rich history our hometown and country has!” Julia said to Freddie as they were walking through the area. “I love it!” “Yeah, I remember my grandparents talking about 17th century England and the renaissance era.” As they strolled through the area on their way to the gate, they heard various Hersheypark oriented tunes being played such as the Springtime in the Park theme and a song title “My Favorite Ride” sang by the park’s resident music man, Mr. Music. There was a large mob of people standing in front of the gates since they just opened a few minutes prior to arriving there. “This area sort of gets congested earlier in the day,” said Matt. “But the crowds do wear out and it’s really nice.” “That’s good to hear,” said Freddie. AnnaSophia gave everyone their tickets as they approached the “Pre Purchased” ticket gates. “I love the styling of the entrance itself!” said Julia, as she admired the castle-style architecture. After passing through security and the entrance turnstiles, they made their way through Rhineland, a Pennsylvania-German themed area where the buildings were constructed of stucco, wood and plaster with steeply pitched roofs and housing mainly gifts shops, a character greeting area, Famous Famiglia Pizza and a kosher food stand. Walking up the hill through the densely shaded area of Rhineland, they heard jazz music being played throughout the area. “The music does not fit with this area at all,” AnnaSophia commented. “How can they just ruin such excellent theming?” “They used to play medieval and classical music in Tudor Square and German polka music in this area but that all stopped as of last season,” Matt replied. “Why they did that, I have no clue.” At the top of the hill beyond Famous Famiglia Pizza, stood a bronze statue of Milton S. Hershey that marked the entrance to Founder’s Circle. Known as the area situated around the park’s 1919 PTC carousel, this area was recently renovated in tribute to the legacy of Mr. Hershey. “Hey Matt, can you get a picture of me in front of the statue?” asked AnnaSophia. “Sure!” said Matt. “Then if it’s okay with Julia and Freddie, I’d love to get a picture of the three of you with the statue and carousel in the background.” “Okay,” said Julia. After Matt took his pictures, they walked through the newly renovated area. “These shade arbors are new,” said Matt. “I’ll have to show you pictures of what the old fiberglass ones used to look like. These look so much better though.” “This is all new to us,” AnnaSophia replied. “Something I was always looking forward to!” “I could not wait to see this area after the renovations were completed,” said Matt. “I wanted to compare the old with the new.” Making their way across Founder’s Circle, they made their way over to Starship America, a generic Aero Jet ride built by Kasper Klaus for the park in the 1950’s. “This area used to be home to one of my most treasured rides that the park removed after last season,” said Matt. “What was that,” asked AnnaSophia with curiosity. “The GIANT Wheel,” Matt replied. “It was a double ferris wheel designed by Intamin, the company that built Storm Runner. The reason it was removed was because of the lack or parts that were available to keep it going. They have since cut it up and sent it to the scrap yard.” “Awww,” said Julia. “That sounded like a nice ride, it’s a shame they had to remove it.” “Now they brought back Starship America and Balloon Flite and placed them here. These two rides were in storage for the last two to three years,” Matt said to them. “At least I learned a piece of history there,” AnnaSophia giggled with excitement. “Well, why don’t we ride Starship America? Anyone want to ride?” “Yes, I have not ridden this ride in years!” said Matt. “Sort of reminds me of Dumbo at Disneyland,” said Freddie as he was watching it spin while they were waiting in line. “I always loved Dumbo!” “Then you will love this ride,” said Matt. “Yeah,” Freddie agreed with him. They were admitted and each went for their own rocketship. “This is going to be so much fun!” AnnaSophia yelled back at Julia. “Cool!” Julia yelled back at AnnaSophia. After all the rockets were loaded, the ride operator started the ride. Once the rockets spinning gained enough speed, the joysticks were activated and they were able to move their rockets up and down. “Woooohoooo!” yelled AnnaSophia as she reached for her joystick to make her rocket go up and down. Her blonde hair blew through the breeze. Suddenly the rockets all came back down and the ride slowly began to stop. “That was awesome!” said Freddie with a lot of energy. “I’m hungry for some more thrills!” “Let’s go over to the Scrambler, “said Matt pointing at it right across the midway. “Okay,” said AnnaSophia. “Matt, maybe we can ride together!” “Sure,” Matt replied. They walked across Founder’s Circle to the Scrambler and got in line. While they were waiting, Freddie was gazing up at the huge white wooden roller coaster towering behind the Scrambler and the adjacent kiddie rides. “What’s that coaster?” Freddie asked. “That’s the Comet,” Matt replied. “It’s Hershey’s oldest roller coaster, which opened in 1946.” “Wow, that’s almost sixty years old!” said AnnaSophia. “Matt I knew you had knowledge of the park, but not this much knowledge for sure!” Once the ride stopped, AnnaSophia ran to the nearest cabin and yelled for Matt to come over. Julia and Freddie slid into the cabin adjacent to them. “I love these kinds of rides!” said AnnaSophia as she ran her hands through her blonde hair. After they were all latched in, the ride operator started the ride and ran it to full speed, which sent them all flying in circles. Since AnnaSophia and Julia were sitting in the inner parts of their cabins, Matt and Freddie went flying into them. AnnaSophia and Julia’s hair went flying all over the place. “Ahhh!” they yelled and laughed. After a few nice flybys, the ride came to a stop. “That was a lot of fun!” said AnnaSophia. “At a moment, I thought you had me crushed Matt!” Matt laughed. After the Scrambler, they made their way out of Founder’s Circle and through Der Deitchplatz, a Pennsylvania Dutch area with a deli named “Crustano’s Deli”, and a full sized scale replica of a Pennsylvania Dutch-styled craftbarn, which featured a blacksmith, an old-styled photo area and the Craftbarn Kitchen, a cafeteria-style eating area. “The scenery is just remarkable!” said AnnaSophia. “Yeah,” Matt agreed. “They used to play polka music through here too but that’s been eliminated as well.” “That’s a shame,” Julia agreed. “For such nice theming they have and they have to screw it up by playing music that’s out of place.” AnnaSophia looked at her watch. “Oh my gosh, it’s almost eleven, maybe we should try to fit in one more ride before we think about eating lunch.” “Good idea,” said Matt. “How about we do the monorail next.” “Yeah,” Freddie agreed. “Then maybe try to do a roller coaster after we eat.” “Well, not exactly after we eat,” AnnaSophia suggested. “I would want my stomach to settle a little first.” “Yeah, that’s true,” said Freddie. “But we’ll be here until close, right, so we’ll have plenty of time.” “Yes,” said Matt. “Everyone else agreed?” “Sure,” said AnnaSophia. They made their way through Music Box Way and over to the entrance for the Capital BlueCross monorail, directly across from the Music Box Theatre. “Isn’t that funny,” AnnaSophia commented while looking at the huge sign adjacent to the monorail entrance. “A health company sponsoring one of the safest forms of transportation around. I think that’s really cool!” “I never took it that way,” Matt added. “And they have been sponsoring the monorail for about ten years now.” They made their way up the long ramp that rapped around and up to the station. While walking, Matt pointed out the old Hersheypark Arena. “Yeah, I was wondering what the building was,” said AnnaSophia. “So, that’s where the Hershey Bears used to play.” “Until the GIANT Center opened, now they use it as a practice rink and local schools also use it for sporting competitions. It was built in 1936.” “Wow!” said AnnaSophia. “It’s almost seventy years old.” “At least they did not tear it down,” Julia added. “That would be sad to see a structure like that with that much historical significance be wasted to the wrecking ball.” As they were waiting at the platform a monorail train came gliding in and came to a stop. “Were the monorails always blue before Capital BlueCross started to sponsor it?” asked AnnaSophia. “Yes,” said Matt. “Capital BlueCross did not paint them blue when they first sponsored the ride.” Once the previous load of riders disembarked, the station platform attendant opened the gates and they hurried to find a good spot on the train. “This will be a nice relaxing ride,” said Julia as she sat next to AnnaSophia on the seat across from Freddie. AnnaSophia moved over and sat across from Matt. Once everyone was on board, the platform attendant signaled the driver to dispatch, a loud beep signaled out of a speaker at the station and they slowly started to glide out from the station. At the beginning of the ride a male narrator welcomed them aboard the Capital BlueCross monorail and gave them a brief description about Capital BlueCross and their services that are offered to their members and their families throughout Central Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley. Making a turn over Music Box Way, they got a good glimpse of the kiddie rides, Fender Bender bumper cars, as well as Storm Runner towering above the trees behind the Music Box Theatre. “That Storm Runner is gonna be awesome!” said Freddie. “I just know it!” After making a slight turn, they crossed the high level bridge over Spring Creek, while passing the Hersheypark Aquatheatre, where the first dolphin and sea lion show of the day was in progress. “Awww, they look so cute,” said AnnaSophia, looking down from her side of the train. After making their way past the Minetown kiddie rides and Flying Falcon, they made a slight turn and went towards Tower Plaza and over the Sunoco Twin Turnpike and by the base of the Kissing Tower. The cabin of the tower was just ascending. “That looks like a gigantic spaceship going up,” said Julia. “That is so cool!” said AnnaSophia. “That’s one thing I couldn’t wait to see in person.” Passing Tower Plaza, they went over the park’s back boundary, over Park Avenue (State Route 743) and over the ZooAmerica parking lot. “There they are!” Julia pointed out from her side of the train. “There’s the real Hershey Kiss shaped lights!” “Awesome!” said AnnaSophia. “Now I know I am defiantly in Chocolate Town!” Passing over the ZooAmerica parking lot, they crossed over railroad tracks and encircled the Hershey Chocolate Factory parking lot and passed an unused monorail station at the far end of the lot that was attached behind an office building. “They used to use this as a shuttle to bring guests out to the chocolate factory when they were still giving factory tours before the park became a fenced in park,” Matt said to them. “When the park became a theme park and was fenced in and Chocolate World was built, they just closed down this station since there was no use for it anymore.” “Wow,” said AnnaSophia. “I never knew they actually gave tours through the actual factory!” “Yeah and you could’ve went through chewing your bubblegum!” Freddie joked. AnnaSophia giggled. They ran parallel to Chocolate Avenue for a few seconds then made a turn and glided right past the chocolate factory. “Boy, that definitely does not look like Willy Wonka’s factory for sure,” said Julia. “Except for the smokestacks.” “Yeah, Willy Wonka never had tractor trailers sitting outside and train tracks running right by the place,” AnnaSophia joked. Crossing back over the railroad tracks, they got a glimpse of the tall, yellow cocoa bean silos that the Hershey Company uses to store cocoa beans prior to entering the factory to begin the chocolate-making process. “The beans enter by way of that slanted piece that goes from the silos into the factory over the tracks,” said Matt, as he pointed across their car out the other side. “Very interesting,” said Freddie. After passing the factory, they made a slight decline through some trees and went over ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, while the narrator was describing briefly about the zoo. “Look at the bison and wolves over there, they are so dear!” said AnnaSophia. “I guess I have developed a love for animals after filming ‘Because of Winn Dixie’!” They also passed the area where the monorails are kept when the park is closed and during the off season. Since the park was not busy that day, they had one monorail sitting on the transfer track there. “That shows us that today will not be busy,” said Matt. “That’s a good sign,” said AnnaSophia. They crossed back over Park Avenue where they saw the Trailblazer roller coaster as well as Storm Runner’s flying snake dive under the monorail track, barrel roll and s-curve finale over Trailblazer’s lift hill. “I’m hungry for that ride,” said Freddie. “When are we gonna get over there to ride it?” “Don’t worry, we will,” said Matt. “I’d like to ride it too,” said AnnaSophia. “Not me,” said Julia. “I’m not into that kind of stuff, being twisted upside down and all around, it’s sort of gross.” “How about I ride it twice, once with Freddie then with AnnaSophia, when we get back there to ride it later,” Matt suggested. “Cool idea!” said AnnaSophia. “Then Freddie or I won’t miss out!” “We can do that for a majority of the roller coasters,” Freddie suggested. “That’s if Julia doesn’t mind standing by the exit and waiting for us.” “No, I don’t mind at all,” Julia replied. “You three can ride the roller coasters, I’ll just watch.” They made a slight incline up towards Music Box Way, while getting a glimpse of Storm Runner’s cobra loop on one side and the Dry Gulch Railroad on the other side. At the top of the monorail’s incline right before they re-entered Music Box Way, they saw a train crossing the Dry Gulch’s first trestle. “That looks cute,” said AnnaSophia. After passing underneath Storm Runner’s tophat, they made a slight turn into Music Box Way passing the Pirate and shortly after that, returning to the monorail station. As the narration concluded, they played Hershey’s new promotional jingle “I Want Hershey!” “That sound’s like ‘I Want Candy’ but they use Hershey instead of candy,” said AnnaSophia. “That’s neat!” “It’s amazing of all the little jingles I’ve been hearing that are being reworded for various marketing strategies at companies recently,” Matt commented. “If it will help the company succeed, then that’s what they’ll use,” Freddie replied. When the train stopped and the doors opened, they all made their way down the long exit ramp, alongside the entrance ramp. “Why did they ever make this line so long in the first place?” asked AnnaSophia. “I bet they never even have filled it up to the very beginning.” “I don’t think they ever did either,” Matt agreed. After departing, Matt led them across Music Box Way and over towards the Fender Bender. “We could eat at the Minetown Restaurant,” Matt suggested. “They have a variety to pick from.” “Variety, I love that!” AnnaSophia commented. “Okay with me,” Julia agreed. “Sure thing,” said Freddie. So they decided to walk back to Minetown and enjoy a delicious lunch at the Minetown Restaurant for a break prior to resuming their touring of Hersheypark.

CHAPTER THREE
After walking across the high level bridge over Spring Creek into Minetown, Matt, AnnaSophia, Freddie and Julia decided to have lunch at the Minetown restaurant. Once they walked in, decided what they wanted to eat and paid for their food, they decided to find a table next to some windows where they could enjoy a nice view of the Amphitheatre and Comet Hollow. “Wow, that’s Great Bear, right?” asked Freddie. “Yes, the gigantic light blue supports and black track!” “It sort of reminds me of Nemesis at Alton Towers. I’ve ridden that hundreds of times!” “I remember that one,” said Julia. “It made me sick and that coaster looks no different.” They watched as a train came rumbling down the first drop and into the vertical loop. “That is spectacular!” said Freddie in awe. “I think that is taller then Nemesis!” “I think is taller,” Julia mentioned. “Wasn’t Nemesis built in some sort of a trench?” “I believe so,” said Freddie. “If I can remember, even the inversions were partially in ground.” “Wow,” said AnnaSophia. “I think I know what you’re talking about,” said Matt. “I saw that ride on a roller coaster program one time. They took you on an on ride tour and the lift hill wasn’t that much above ground level. I do believe it dropped into a trench, so I think Julia is correct.” “Hey what are we gonna ride next?” asked AnnaSophia. “How about the Coal Cracker?” said Matt. “It’s Hershey’s answer to the log flume but you ride in little coal boats instead.” “Okay,” said Julia. “I don’t mind flume rides, I think they’re fun and I don’t mind if I get wet on them.” After they were finished eating, they made their way through the restaurant and out the other end of the building, right across from the Coal Cracker’s entrance and right into the ride queue, which wound around the outside of the circular loading station and up a section of stairs, over the flume entry part, where they took in a nice view of the boats traveling up the lift hill, as well as a sooperdooperLooper train making its way around Coal Cracker’s lift. “Wow, three rides intertwined,” said AnnaSophia. “Now I didn’t realize Hershey had so many rides in and around each other, Great Bear, that other roller coaster and the Coal Cracker, then the monorail, railroad and Storm Runner!” “That’s because the park is running out of room to build,” Matt replied. “So because they are becoming landlocked, they are building newer rides on top of older ones.” “That’s a smart idea,” Julia commented as they made their way down the stairs and into the station. When the ride attendant gave them the okay to go to a boat, AnnaSophia crawled into the front, Matt immediately behind her, with Freddie followed by Julia in the back. “Okay Anna, make sure you steer this thing right!” Matt joked. AnnaSophia giggled. “I’ll try!” After leaving the station, they headed up the lift hill and around a zig zagged course, in around the Great Bear and sooperdooperLooper roller coasters until they reached a second lift hill. After approaching the top of the second lift, they made a few turns before approaching one of the two 65 foot spillways and over a camel back hump at the bottom. “That was refreshing!” said AnnaSophia. “Yeah,” said Julia as she ran her hands through her long dark hair. After returning and departing from the loading station, they viewed their on ride photo at the Coal Cracker photo area. “That is hilarious!” AnnaSophia laughed. “Matt. you’re like bent down almost the whole way behind me!” Matt just laughed. After the Coal Cracker, AnnaSophia and Freddie wanted to try out Great Bear, Hershey’s steel inverted roller coaster. Since Julia didn’t want to ride, she offered to hold onto all their personal belongings, such as their sun visors, water bottles, cameras and sun glasses. “Are you sure you’ll be okay?” asked AnnaSophia. “Yes, now go and enjoy yourselves,” Julia said as she walked over to a nearby bench to wait for them. Meanwhile, Matt led AnnaSophia and Freddie around the windy queue and into the station. They decided to ride the front row. “I am nervous about this,” said AnnaSophia. I never rode in the front of a roller coaster before!” “You’ll love this one in the front,” said Matt as they were waiting for the next train to come back. “The view is spectacular!” “Yeah, I rode the front of Nemesis before,” Freddie agreed. “It gives you more of a sensation of flying then in the other rows.” “Okay,” said AnnaSophia. “I believe you guys, I still think I have butterflies in my stomach though!” The next train rolled into the station and the load of riders disembarked. Matt walked the whole way to the end of the first row, with AnnaSophia in the middle and Freddie on the other side of AnnaSophia. “Okay, the moment of truth!” said AnnaSophia as she pulled down her restraint and strapped herself in. “This is gonna rock, isn’t Matt?” Freddie yelled over to Matt. After the station attendant finished checking their restraints, the floor underneath their feet lowered and they departed the station and immediately to the lift hill. Ascending the lift hill, they took in the wonderful view of Comet Hollow right in front of them. After the lift, they made a sharp turn through a very tight helix followed by the steep 125 foot drop into Comet Hollow. Running alongside Spring Creek, they maneuvered through the 100 foot vertical loop followed by an immelman, a diving loop designed after a flight maneuver used by airplanes. Exiting the immelman, they flew right over the Comet Hollow midway turning 360 degrees through the barrel roll right above the midway before swooping down back over the creek, followed by a straightaway, a disorienting corkscrew and an “s” curve that brought them right back to the station. “Wow, I thought for sure we were going to kick the loop of that other roller coaster!” said Freddie. “Nemesis never even had an effect like that!” “Yay!” AnnaSophia cheered. “I finally conquered a roller coaster in the front seat!” “Yes, if it wasn’t for me and Freddie!” said Matt as he slapped hands with Freddie as they exited the station. When they were exiting down the ramp, another train came into the breaks right above their heads. “That is truly an awesome roller coaster!” said Freddie. “The interaction with other rides really made that ride!” Making their way past the on-ride photo area, AnnaSophia wanted to buy a photo of herself with Freddie and Matt so she could cherish her very first ride on the front seat of a roller coaster. “I just had to do it!” said AnnaSophia. “Having never ridden in the front before, it’s a first-of-a-kind experience I want to remember.” Once meeting Julia at the ride exit, they strolled back through Tower Plaza and decided to relax and take in the aerial view from the Kissing Tower. As they approached the entrance, they walked right in as the cabin which was sitting there waiting for passengers. “I was waiting for this moment!” said AnnaSophia. “To ride this ride, you’ve always told me about it!” “Can’t resist that,” Matt replied. After everyone was on board, the cabin started to ascend making one very slow revolution going up, one at the top and one coming down. They took in a nice view of the entire park and the town of Hershey from 330 feet above ground level. As they were viewing out the windows, there was a male narrator explaining about the park and the surrounding area. “This is neat,” said Julia. “And there are the Kiss lights again!” “And looking at them through these Kiss-shaped windows,” AnnaSophia added. “That’s so cool!” “Storm Runner even rocks more from up here!” said Freddie in awe. They slowly glided down. “This is one of the best observation towers you will find in any theme park, “Matt commented. “It’s also one of the best looking!” “I have to agree with that!” AnnaSophia agreed. The cabin stopped rotating and they made their way out. “Yes, it’s definitely a Hershey landmark without a doubt,” Julia commented. AnnaSophia and Julia admired the architecture and scenery of Tower Plaza, including the gazebo like structures and water fountain. “What a nice romantic place,” AnnaSophia commented. “I wonder how many people make out here.” “Probably a lot,” said Matt. “Although I never saw anyone actually do it here before.” After leaving Tower Plaza, they walked back past Great Bear and Coal Cracker’s entrance and made their way down the hill towards Comet Hollow where they took in a nice view of the sooperdooperLooper’s vertical loop. Suddenly, a Great Bear train came rumbling and swooping through the “s” curve right above them. “Man, that is so deceiving,” Freddie commented. “When you are on that ride, you think your legs are gonna be chopped off by that blue vertical loop of that roller coaster!” “You are just making me feel sicker,” Julia joked. “You’ll never get me on a roller coaster like that!” At the bottom of the hill, they walked across a bridge over Spring Creek and into Comet Hollow. “Hey Matt, let’s ride that sooperdooperLooper roller coaster,” said AnnaSophia. “But first,” Freddie added. “Matt and I shall do it since we’re adrenaline junkies!” “You can sort of be a little demanding but okay,” AnnaSophia agreed. “But why don’t you let Matt and I do that other one over there together.” “You mean the Comet,” said Matt. “Yeah, that one!” AnnaSophia replied. “Okay, we got a deal,” said Freddie. “You can ride the Comet with Matt first, if it’s okay with him.” “Sure it’s okay!” said Matt. AnnaSophia blushed. “I would also like to do the Lightning Racer with you first as well….both sides of it!” “Okay, let’s shake on it!” said Matt. “Lightning Racer and Comet first?” Matt and AnnaSophia shook hands on it. “I didn’t know you were into coasters as much as I was,” said Freddie. “Yeah, I love to ride roller coasters,” AnnaSophia replied. “I just never rode them in the front until I did the Great Bear.” “Matt…let’s roll, we got another coaster to conquer here!” said Freddie as he started towards the entrance.

Matt and Freddie made their way through the long queue line which wound around and underneath the loading station and up a double flight of stairs into the loading area. “That’s what I hate about this ride, the stairs,” said Matt. “And Storm Runner is like that as well.” “Yeah, it’s sort of stupid,” Freddie agreed. Matt and Freddie went immediately to the front seat. Since there were not a lot of people in the front seat, they were able to ride the next train once it rolled into the station. “Did I ever tell you that this was the first looping roller coaster on the east coast?” Matt said. “No you didn’t,” Freddie replied as they climbed into the front seat and pulled down their lap bars. “That’s cool!” Once everyone was strapped in, their train left the station and immediately attached itself to the lift hill. Once at the top, they made two turns before plummeting down the first drop and through the 55 foot vertical loop. “Ahhhh!” yelled Freddie. “That loop was intense!” After exiting the loop, they careened around a very tight turn before traveling right through the center of the loop and up a hump and around a turn over the Coal Cracker and through a tunnel. Exiting the tunnel, they made a few turns under the lift hill, through a mid course break and a few bunny hills upon maneuvering through a very tight helix followed by the brakes. “That was a great roller coaster,” said Freddie “They’re all great in your eyes,” Matt joked with him. Freddie laughed. “Yeah, they are.” They met up with the girls at the exit and then AnnaSophia joined Matt and they went back to ride the sooperdooperLooper again. They made their way through the long queue line again. “This is insane,” said AnnaSophia. “What’s with all these extra long ride waiting areas? They are never filled and I bet they never were either.” “That section over there is rarely used,” said Matt pointing to a roped off area that they bypassed. They decided to ride the front as well. “Riding in the front is pretty cool, “said AnnaSophia as they slid into the front seat of their train. “Yeah, I was once afraid of doing it too,” Matt replied. Mat enjoyed another round of excitement, this time with AnnaSophia. “That’s a neat coaster,” said AnnaSophia. “Although I think the brakes were a little rough at the end.” “Yeah, that’s the only part I hate about this coaster,” said Matt. AnnaSophia and Matt met Julia and Freddie out by the exit. “Nifty coaster, eh?” said Freddie. “Yeah it was cool,” AnnaSophia replied. “By the way, are we gonna do the Comet next?” “How about the Tilt A Whirl and the Swings,” Julia suggested. “They’re both right here; we might as well ride them before you two do the Comet.” “Oh yeah, I forgot about those,” said Matt. “Yes, we must ride those rides first.” They immediately walked over to the Tilt-A-Whirl. Since each gondola held a maximum of four people, they all decided to cram into on together. “I heard the more people that are in one of these seats, the more they spin around,” said AnnaSophia. “That’ll be a plus for us,” said Julia as she crammed in next to AnnaSophia. The ride operator started the ride and their gondola went spinning around like crazy. “Wooohooo!” yelled AnnaSophia. “I love this ride!” They were all speechless as their gondola kept spinning and spinning and spinning. Finally, the ride stopped. “Finally,” said Julia. “I think I’ll be dizzy after this one for sure.” After departing from the Tilt-A-Whirl, they made their way through Comet Hollow and on over to the Wave Swinger. Since crowds were light, it was a walk-on. “This is such a beautiful ride,” AnnaSophia commented as she strapped herself in. “Really beautiful and detailed.” Freddie sat in a chair next to Matt and the girls were in chairs right behind them. The ride lifted up and began to rotate. After picking up speed, it changed direction in movement as it rotated until the ride slowed back down and lowered to a stop. “I really liked the breeze on that ride,” said Julia. “Okay, now you and I must do the Comet next,” AnnaSophia said to Matt. “Remember our agreement, you and I must do Comet and Lightning Racer before Freddie!” “Yes, I will not forget our agreement, “said Matt as they were walking towards the Comet entrance. While AnnaSophia and Matt were getting ready to enter the queue line, Matt instructed Julia and Freddie to walk around the station to the exit which was located behind Crustano’s Deli. Meanwhile, AnnaSophia and Matt made their way through queue and up the ramp into the station. They decided to ride the front seat. “I’m so happy you and Freddie talked me into riding the Great Bear up front, now I love it!” said AnnaSophia. “It’s so cool what you can see from the front!” Once the next train rolled into the station and the previous riders disembarked, AnnaSophia and Matt crammed into the front seat, buckled their seatbelts and pulled down their lap bars. “This is going to be so exciting!” AnnaSophia blushed. “I always did like this coaster,” Matt replied. “I still like Lightning Racer a little more.” After they were dispatched from the station, they immediately started up the lift hill. They were able to see Comet Hollow on the left and Founder’s Circle on the right. “It looks so empty over there without the GIANT Wheel,” said Matt. “Like there is a huge gap hole there now.” “I’m used to it like that because I was never here before,” said AnnaSophia. “But I bet I know how you feel.” Matt nodded. “Yes, it is sad that it’s no longer there.” They finally crested the hill and made the huge drop onto a bridge over Spring Creek. After plummeting over the creek, they went back up a second hill to the first turn-a-round alongside the park’s boundary along Park Boulevard. Turning around, they plummeted back down towards the creek and over a bunny hill alongside the lift hill and first drop and the Tilt-A-Whirl. Making their way back up the third hill and the second turn-a-round over the lift hill, they traveled down a not-so-steep drop, followed by a series of bunny hops that skirted the edge of Founder’s Circle to the third turn-a-round near Rhineland. They turned back around onto another series of bunny hops that provided plenty of airtime that brought them into the brakes at the station. “That was awesome,” said AnnaSophia. “I absolutely loved it!” “Yes, it was our first wooden roller coaster we ever rode together,” Matt stated. AnnaSophia started to blush and giggle. “Oh yeah, that is sweet!” They walked out the exit and met Freddie and Julia at a patio area behind Crustano’s Deli. “That was an incredible ride!” said AnnaSophia. “You’ll absolutely love it Freddie!” “That’s cool to hear!” said Freddie. “Matt what are we waiting for, let’s do it!” “Yes, I definitely want to ride it again,” said Matt as they made their way back into Comet Hollow while AnnaSophia and Julia stayed by the Comet exit. “That’s what I love about the Comet,” said Matt. “Its age definitely plays a part in the ride.” “Yes, indeed,” Freddie agreed with him as they walked through the Comet queue. “You said it’s almost sixty years old, am I correct?” “Yes,” Matt replied as they were walking back up the ramp into the station. In the station, they decided to ride the front seat. “I haven’t ridden a wooden coaster in ages,” said Freddie. “The last one I ever ridden was at Blackpool Pleasure Beach not far from where I used to live.” They enjoyed another good ride on Hershey’s oldest woodie. “Wow, I forgot how much I loved wooden coasters!” said Freddie. “Yes, this was my favorite wooden coaster here at Hershey until Lightning Racer was built.” “Wow, then that mean’s Lightning Racer has to be a must ride,” Freddie said. “Yeah, unlike the Comet and Wildcat which are a little rougher, Lightning Racer delivers a pretty smooth ride for a wooden coaster,” Matt told him as they were walking out the exit ramp and joined the girls. “I’m assuming you liked it,” said AnnaSophia. “I didn’t like,” Freddie replied. “I loved it!” Moving on from the Comet’s exit, they made their way back into Music Box Way and across the high level bridge into Minetown deciding where they will continue their adventure at America’s sweetest theme park.

CHAPTER FOUR[/u]
As the afternoon continued on, the four kids decided to take a break from the rides and relax, enjoying all the scenery and other great attractions that Hersheypark had to offer them. “Hey, I wouldn’t mind seeing that really cute dolphin show,” AnnaSophia suggested. “That looked adorable from the monorail!” “Yeah,” Julia agreed. “Maybe we can take a little break from the rides and sit down for a bit.” “I haven’t seen this show in years,” said Matt. “I wouldn’t mind seeing it again.” They made their way into the Hersheypark Aquatheatre, along with several other guests and sat towards the top half of the round section of bleachers that encircled the dolphin pool. As they were waiting for the show to begin, Freddie could not resist watching Storm Runner’s trains pass up over the tophat, down into the valley and through the cobra loop, which sat directly behind the Aquatheatre. “Beautiful!” Freddie sighed. “I am hungry for that thing!” “You have a wild sense of humor for those things!” Julia commented. “Well, we adrenaline junkies have to stick together,” said Freddie as he leaned over towards Matt and put his arm around him. “Right Matt?” “Yep,” Matt smiled. AnnaSophia giggled. “I guess you include me in as well.” As soon as everyone was in the seated in the Aquatheatre, the music began and the trainer came walking out. “Hello and welcome to the Hersheypark Aquatheatre. Now prepare to be amazed!” Soon afterwards, two sea lions came huddling out from a small structure from behind the pool. Julia and AnnaSophia’s mouths dropped in awe. “Awww, they are so cute,” said AnnaSophia. The audience watched in awe as the trainer got the sea lions to swim in the pool and wag their tails, splashing the several first rows of spectators. “I’m glad we didn’t sit down there!” said Julia. “Me either,” AnnaSophia agreed. Before the seas lions were finished with their act, the trainer got out a huge multi-colored ball and the sea lions did several tricks with it. “That’s so cool!” said AnnaSophia. After the sea lions were done, two dolphins came out and the trainer introduced them to the audience. The kids were laughing along with the audience as the trainer explained the different tricks to all of them. Finally the show ended. “That was really cute,” said AnnaSophia. “I’m glad we went to see it.” “And see Storm Runner perform some of its maneuvers,” said Freddie. “Roller coasters mean more to you then animals?” said AnnaSophia. “How can you not love animals?” “Because I am truly an adrenaline junky!” Freddie laughed. AnnaSophia shaked her head. “You’ll never get over it, won’t ya?” “I never realized dolphins and sea lions did so many tricks,” said Julia. “That really amazed me how much they could do!” “Yeah,” said AnnaSophia. “You don’t realize how much effort trainers put into animals until you see it for yourself. That’s sort of how it went when I was in ‘Because of Winn Dixie’. I was shocked on how much they trained those dogs they used as Winn Dixie!” “Yeah, I was impressed with that when I watched the movie,” said Matt. “By the way, I’d love to show you all ZooAmerica, you can enter it from over there near the Flying Falcon.” “Yeah, I’d love to see it,” AnnaSophia agreed. “I heard on the monorail, that they said it was included with your admission.” “Let’s go,” said Julia. “Only if Freddie doesn’t mind leaving the roller coasters for a little.” “No I don’t mind,” said Freddie. “I was just trying to be funny a while ago!” They walked over past the Flying Falcon and got their hand stamps before crossing the bridge over Park Avenue and into ZooAmerica’s gift shop and admissions building. Once walking through the gift shop building, they made their back outside and up a ramp into the Grassy Water building, where they saw various animals from the Florida Everglades including the Barred Owl, American Alligator, Armadillo, Florida Box Turtles and American Crocodile. “Alligators sort of took an interest to me,” said Freddie as he was looking into one of the glass windows at an alligator lying by a rock. “I admire the shape of them, those long snouts where their mouths are located.” “Just as long as they don’t come after me, I don’t care,” said AnnaSophia. “I don’t ever want to think what would ever happened if I was attacked by an alligator or crocodile.” Once the left the Grassy Waters building, they made their way up a path until they reached the Falcon exhibit. They were all looking inside the cage trying to find where the falcon was hiding. “I can’t find him” said Julia looking around at the scenery in the cage. “I think I found him” AnnaSophia giggled. “Over there by that branch!” “Awww isn’t he adorable?” said Julia. “It’s nice that yous have compassion for animals,” said Matt. “I’ve really taken a liking to wildlife since Winn Dixie,” said AnnaSophia. “Working with a dog like that has really changed my whole viewpoint on wildlife.” Walking around a zig zagged boardwalk above a hillside, they came across a thick billed parrot caged along a steep hilly ravine. “I see him,” said Julia pointing up at the cage. “I think that’s him.” “Yes it is,” said AnnaSophia. After viewing the thick billed parrot, they made their way through some sliding doors into a round building with windows all around the room and on the roof. Known as the Cactus Community building, they viewed all kinds of that live in various deserts in North America, including Roadrunners, Scorpions, Desert Tortoises, Sidewinders, and Arizona Mountain King snake, just to name a few. “Okay, these snakes look cool,” said Freddie. “And I guess it must be a guy thing.” “Yes, it is definitely a guy thing,” Julia responded as they walk through the “Desert in the Darkness” exhibit. “I think snakes are sort of disgusting!” Departing the Cactus Community building, they made their way through a windy path underneath the monorail track through the Easter Woodlands area of the zoo. Animals around this area included Barn Owls, Eastern Screech Owls and River Otters. They also took in the Bobcat exhibit. “Aww, there’s the kitty cat,” Matt joked. “Yeah and he’ll jump out here at us and chase us,” Freddie added. “I don’t think I’d like to be here if one of those got loose,” said AnnaSophia. Making their way down a hilly walkway, they walked over to the Black Bear Encounter, where they took in a nice view from inside a building where through, glass windows; they could see a pond with one of the black bears walking through it. Walking outside, they walked down an open path that bordered the exhibit where they took in some more of the bears walking around the exhibit. “Ahh, Black Bears, you gotta love them!” said Freddie. “Roller coasters and black bears, both sort of aggressive to me,” Julia commented. “Yeah, you don’t like roller coasters anyways,” said Freddie. “Well, I like roller coasters,” AnnaSophia. “But black bears, I don’t know.” Continuing on, they walked over a long wooden bridge over to the Prairie Dog exhibit, part of the zoo’s Big Sky Country area. “A majority of the time, the prairie dogs are hiding in their holes,” Matt commented. “I usually never get to see them.” “I hope they’re out,” said Julia. “Now I don’t mind prairie dogs!” As they approached the exhibit, they saw a nice crowd gathered around the prairie dog area. A few prairie dogs were out and about posing for the guests. “Awww, look at those little critters,” said AnnaSophia. “Aren’t they so dear?” “I hardly ever get to see them to appreciate them,” Matt commented. “I forgot how cute they really are.” After viewing the prairie dogs, they walked over the American Elk and the Mountain Lions. “Man, looks like he rules the area,” said Freddie as he pointed to one of the Elk standing out beyond the railing. “They are very handsome looking,” AnnaSophia commented. “It looks like they just have control over this entire area, sort of like we are invading their territory.” Freddie just had to check out the adjacent Mountain Lion exhibit as they made their way over to view the Mountain Lions. “Another kitty cat,” Matt laughed. “What would you do if that “kitty cat” would break loose out of there?” Julia said, then pointing up the path. “I’d surely be running up that way!” AnnaSophia giggled. “I’d be with you too!” Walking up the path some more, they came across the Bison exhibit. “I remember seeing this from the monorail,” said AnnaSophia. “I love buffalo!” “I do too,” Matt added. “I always did like bison, I don’t know why but I do.” They watched the bison graze in a huge area alongside Spring Creek amongst dirt and weeds. “I could stand here and watch them forever,” said AnnaSophia. Moving down the path, they glanced at the Magpie and Golden Eagle exhibits, and then walked down a path into a wooded area to view the wolves. “I remember seeing these from the monorail too!” said AnnaSophia. Julia and AnnaSophia stood by a netted fence blocking them from the wolves and were howling at them. “Aren’t they insane?” said Freddie. Matt laughed. “I guess so.” Freddie shook his head. “We’re just having some fun,” AnnaSophia giggled. “And both of you thought that you’d actually make them howl,” said Freddie as they walked back up the boardwalk path. Making their way to the central part of the zoo, they took in the view of the Wild Turkeys, which were part of the Eastern Woodlands area. “Awww, aren’t they cute,” said AnnaSophia. “I always liked turkeys,” said Matt. “I just love looking at them!” “Me too,” said Julia. “Aren’t they dear?” They watched as a turkey walked up to them right on the other side of the fence. “Gobble, gobble, gobble,” said AnnaSophia and Julia, trying to get the turkey’s attention. The turkey just stood there and moved its head before walking away. “Awww, that was so dear,” said AnnaSophia. “I think we might have either confused it or scared it.” Julia laughed. Walking up a hilly path, they viewed the Canadian Lynx exhibit “Looks just like the Bobcat!” said Freddie. “Definitely shows my interest!” “Yeah because you have a wild mind,” Julia joked. “Just another kitty cat they have here,” Matt laughed. “Both you boys have wild minds,” Julia joked again. “You look at it that way because you don’t like to ride roller coasters,” Freddie said as they continued up the path. “Then I guess so,” Julia replied. “I just love this conversation,” AnnaSophia giggled. “Really covers the point!” Making their way through sliding doors, they walked back through the gift shop and admissions building. “That was a nice way to take up some of our afternoon,” said AnnaSophia. “Now I can see that I really do love and admire nature!” “I’m glad you do,” said Matt. “Me too,” Julia agreed. “I now have really taken an interest in wildlife after walking through that zoo.” They walked back across the bridge and over into the park deciding on where to spend the remainder of their day and continue their adventures at Hersheypark.

CHAPTER FIVE
The afternoon was slowly coming to an end and it was decided by the four kids to go and ride some more rides. “I am having so much fun here,” said AnnaSophia. “I never realized Hersheypark was this spectacular. There is so much to do here!” “I’m glad you’re having a great time,” Matt replied. “When are we ever getting back there to do Storm Runner?” said Freddie as he watched a train maneuver through the barrel roll. “How about now,” Matt suggested. “But before we go over there,” AnnaSophia chimed in, “I’d like to ride that tall looking thing.” “You mean the Flying Falcon,” said Matt. “Yes, that thing,” said AnnaSophia. “That looks like fun,” said Julia. “It looks more thrilling then the Scrambler. “It is,” Matt replied. “In fact, I like it better than the Scrambler.” The four of them immediately queued for the ride and watched as the cages went spiraling around in circles as the ride as coming back down the tower with a load of riders. “That is truly spectacular,” said AnnaSophia. “I don’t ever remember seeing a ride like that before!” “Yes,” Matt agreed. “They are very rare. Only a few parks have them and that’s in North America alone.” “I don’t ever remember Alton Towers or Blackpool Pleasure Beach ever having one,” Julia added. “Do you remember Freddie?” “I don’t remember either,” Freddie responded. “I’m took busy looking over there at Storm Runner!” “I guess we don’t have to guess what Freddie is anxious about riding,” AnnaSophia commented. “Yes,” said Julia. “He’s been talking about that crazy looking thing all day!” Once the attendant opened the gate, they all went for their own “falcon” gondola. After the ride was loaded, they started spinning around in circles very fast and kept spinning and spinning and spinning until the four arms holding each group of gondolas started ascending very slowly into the air. At the top, the arms slowed down and they took in a nice view of the park. After a brief slow rotation at the top of the tower, the four arms gained speed and they slowly began to descend the tower. “That was unique,” said AnnaSophia. “I never ever remember seeing or riding a ride like that before.” “I’m not that much into thrills but that ride did interest me,” said Julia. “I like how we slowed down because the view from up there was spectacular!” After leaving the Flying Falcon, Matt led them down a short path down into a valley. Here, Freddie insisted he watch Storm Runner perform the barrel roll element right above the walkway. They saw a train maneuver through the tophat and into the cobra loop coming very close to them and up over the walkway through the barrel roll. “That is going to rock!” said Freddie. Julia did not comment as they walked across a bridge over Spring Creek where AnnaSophia pointed out at the Trailblazer roller coaster. “That looks really cute, let’s ride it!” AnnaSophia commented. “I’m going to wait for Storm Runner,” said Freddie as he was looking at his park map. “According to the map, it’s right up there up that path!” “Yes,” said Matt. “We’ll head there after this ride.” Matt and AnnaSophia decided to ride the Trailblazer together, so they made their way through the entrance and up the stairs into the station. They immediately went for the front seat. “This look like a cute little coaster,” said AnnaSophia. “I’m so happy you and Freddie got me to start riding the front of coasters because I love it!” They watched the train maneuver through the double helix outside the station and eventually come back into the station. After the previous riders disembarked, Matt and AnnaSophia climbed into the front seat and pulled down their lap bars. After the train was fully loaded, they glided out of the station, down a small dip and around a turn and through the area where the trains are kept in the off season and when the park is closed before making another turn underneath Storm Runner and to the lift hill. Ascending the lift hill, they got a quick view of the Dry Gulch Railroad as well as Storm Runner’s station to the left. Leaving the lift hill, the train picked up some speed before making a very tight turn around a large helix and back underneath the lift hill where they got another quick glimpse of Storm Runner’s station before hitting the mid course breaks. Following the breaks, they made a dip underneath the Dry Gulch Railroad’s first trestle and back up until they made another tight turn into the double helix which turned them almost completely sideways followed by the breaks where they re-entered the loading station. “That was short,” said AnnaSophia. “But it really packed quite a punch!” “Yes,” Matt agreed. After walking down some stairs and through a corridor underneath the station, they met up with Julia and Freddie right outside the exit. “We saw yous going through that helix,” said Julia as she pointed over at the double helix next to the station. “Yeah,” said AnnaSophia. “That part really packed a punch! It’s more thrilling then it looks!” Matt led them up another hilly path alongside the Trailblazer which wound up underneath the Dry Gulch Railroad’s trestle and up by Storm Runner’s station. “The moment I’ve been waiting for all day!” shouted Freddie. “Come on Matt!” “Okay!” Matt replied as Freddie made a dash down the path between the Sidewinder roller coaster and Storm Runner’s loading station. AnnaSophia and Julia giggled. “I definitely know what ride Freddie does not want to ride!” Julia laughed as they were following the boys over to Storm Runner’s entrance and waited for the boys to come off the coaster. Meanwhile, Freddie and Matt made their way around the queue wedged in between the Trailblazer and Storm Runner’s station and up stairs over the loading area and down inside the station to an area between the two loading platform. The boys decided to wait for the front seat on the right side. “This is going to rock!” said Freddie as he was staring up at the top hat from inside the station. Outside the station, Julia and AnnaSophia were waiting for Freddie and Matt to get off Storm Runner. “Hey, I think I remember seeing a viewing area back there,” said AnnaSophia as she was pointing back the path between Sidewinder and Storm Runner’s loading station. “Yeah, maybe we’ll be able to see the boys,” Julia agreed as they walked back over to the viewing area so they could watch the trains launch. Back inside the station, Freddie pointed out the girls standing in the launch viewing area. “Hey there’s Anna and Julia!” said Freddie. “Maybe they’ll see us when we launch!” Finally their train came rolling into the station and stopped as the train on the other side exited out and onto the launch track. When the train was emptied, the gates opened and Matt and Freddie took their seats, pulled down their restraints and buckled themselves in. “There’s a lot of leg room on these trains,” said Freddie. “I don’t ever remember having this much leg room on a roller coaster before!” “Yeah, that’s what I love about these trains,” Matt commented. When everyone was strapped in, the transfer track outside the station switched over to their side and they glided out and onto the transfer track. They caught eye of AnnaSophia and Julia, who were standing at the launch viewing area, and waved to them quickly. The anticipation was building as they sat there and saw the launch track and top hat in front of them. Suddenly, they heard a loud hissing sound as the air was compressed through the launch system, and then their train jolted back. After a deep voice on a speaker said “Now Get Ready, Here We Go!”, they shot off from 0-72 mph. in 2 seconds very quickly down the launch track and up over the top hat where they got a quick view of the Comet Hollow area of the park before plunging 150 feet into the Trailblazer valley and back up through the cobra loop where they turned upside down and immediately flipped over back up and pulled out into a steep drop right over the midway below. They made a sharp turn and back up into the barrel roll where they turned 360 degrees before maneuvering straight down near freefalling back into the valley through the flying snake dive. Passing very closely underneath the monorail track and over Trailblazer’s lift hill, they were turned sideways on a very sharp curve then flipped back up where they immediately hit the brakes. “Storm Runner ROCKS!!!!!” yelled Freddie as they made the turn back into the station. “It ROCKS!!!!” “INTENSE!!!” yelled Matt. “INTENSE as always!” “My absolute favorite roller coaster!” said Freddie as he and Matt walked back down the exit stairs. AnnaSophia met them by the exit. “It looks like you guys had fun!” “Storm Runner ROCKS!!!!!” Freddie said again. “You demonstrated all the signs an adrenaline junky has for sure!” said Matt. “That has to be the one hundredth time you said that since we pulled into the station!” “Julia is waiting up there,” AnnaSophia pointed back up to towards the Sidewinder. “I only walked down here because I figured that Matt and I could ride Storm Runner once you two have finished it.” “Sounds great!” Matt added. “While yous are riding Storm Runner, I’m going to try out that Sidewinder,” said Freddie. “I’ll tell Julia I am going to ride it.” “Okay,” said Matt and he and AnnaSophia walked back through Storm Runner’s entrance. “I can’t believe how close that Trailblazer comes to this ride,” said AnnaSophia as they walked back through the queue wedged in between the Trailblazer and Storm Runner’s station. Walking back up the stairs and down into the station, Matt led AnnaSophia back over to where Freddie and him rode. “Wow, riding a launched roller coaster in the front!” said AnnaSophia. “It’s sort of making me a little nervous.” “Oh, if you can handle the others in the front seat,” Matt added. “This one will be no different to you.” The train came back into the station and rolled to a stop. Matt and AnnaSophia climbed in and pulled down their restraints and buckled themselves in tightly.” “I was never on a launched roller coaster before either,” AnnaSophia commented. “So this will be another first for me!” “I’m glad I am part of it,” said Matt. AnnaSophia giggled and blushed, “Thanks Matt!” Once the other train rolled back into the other side of the station, the transfer track switched and, again, they were rolled out and onto the launch track. Julia spotted and waved up at them. AnnaSophia was holding tightly onto her restraint. “Okay, I can do this, I can conquer my fear!” AnnaSophia said to herself as she was glancing up at the top hat in front of them. Again, they heard a loud hissing sound where the air was being compressed through the launch track and they jolted back followed by “Now Get Ready, Here We Go!” from the speaker. They immediately blasted off from 0-72 mph. down the launch track and over the top hat. “Woohooo,” yelled AnnaSophia. “This isn’t that bad!” Passing through the barrel roll and flying snake dive, Matt yelled out “INTENSE!” AnnaSophia ducked her head as they dove underneath the monorail track and through the turn that turned their train sideways and into the breaks. “Wheeeww!” said AnnaSophia breathing a sigh of relief. “At least I survived that one!” “One of my favorite coasters here,” said Matt as he helped AnnaSophia out of the train and they walked down the exit stairs. The two of them stopped by the on-ride photo area where they both purchased a photo of their first ride together on Storm Runner. “I have to remember this, like I did when I rode Great Bear in the front,” said AnnaSophia. “It’s definitely going to be a moment for me today!” Once purchasing their on-ride photos, they met up with Julia, who walked over to meet them by the Sidewinder. “Can you believe Freddie is on that?” she said in disgust while pointing to the coaster. “I do have to believe you with that one,” Matt agreed with her. “That is the roughest coaster in the park. I have heard so many complaints about people’s necks bothering them when they get off that one.” “Ewwww,” said AnnaSophia. “Then why don’t they remove it?” “Because there are enough people, like Freddie, who like that kind of that stuff,” said Matt. “So I guess we can give Freddie the business then,” Julia laughed. Freddie came walking back up the path. “That was such an awesome ride! The backwards part was unbelievable!” Matt, AnnaSophia and Julia just stood there, looked at each other and did not comment. “So I assume your neck did not bother you,” Matt said. “No, why do you ask?” Freddie replied. Matt said no more. “Let’s move on and forget about it.” They walked through a food court area containing various eating establishments inside western themed structures and through the other side where they came across the Frontier Flyers. “Those look cool,” said AnnaSophia. “Let’s ride them!” “Yeah, I love those,” said Matt. “I love how you can maneuver your flyer in different directions!” As they waiting in the queue, they watched as the other riders were maneuvering their flyers. “I never seen one of these before,” Julia commented. “I don’t remember ever seeing them where I lived.” “Me neither,” Freddie added. Once the ride stopped and they were admitted, they each jumped into their own flyer. “I’m ready to fly!” said AnnaSophia as she turned around and smiled back at Matt who was in the flyer behind her. The ride started to rotate and quickly gained speed sending all of them flying above ground. Matt and AnnaSophia were maneuvering their flyers in every direction possible. “Wooohooo!” yelled AnnaSophia while her blonde hair was flying through the air. “I’m flying!” “Cool!” said Julia as she swung her flyer around. The ride slowly came to a stop and they climbed out of their flyers and dashed over to the exit. “Hey let’s ride the train,” AnnaSophia suggested. “I saw it like from a million places here and we never had a chance to ride it yet!” “Okay,” said Julia. “I could use a break from the coasters,” said Matt. “Me too,” Freddie agreed. They walked across a bridge over the railroad and walked right over to the station. As they walked through the station and down a ramp, a train chugged to the station and came to a slow stop. “That’s cute,” said AnnaSophia. “I never had seen those kinds of trains before, the size between the large steam locomotives and the small miniature ones you find at parks.” Once they attendant unlatched the chain across the queue, they walked over and crawled into one of the coaches. AnnaSophia and Matt moved to the far end and Julia and Freddie squeezed in beside them. “Wow, they give you a lot of leg room in here,” said Freddie. “Sort of like Storm Runner.”

“You don’t give up on that thing, don’t you?” Julia said. “Storm Runner was fun!” said AnnaSophia. “Although I did sort of freak out when we were sitting there on the launch track and then when we took off so quickly.” After everyone was aboard and the engineer got to his spot at the engine, he tooted the whistle and they slowly started to move. Passing the Pirate, they watched as the boat was swinging a boatload of riders. “That looks cool,” said Julia. “It is,” Matt replied. “I have not ridden it in years.” After picking up a little speed, they made a turn underneath the monorail track and right underneath Storm Runner’s top hat where all of a sudden, they saw a train blast up over them and down the other side into the valley, right before they entered the first trestle bridge along the train’s route. “All three of you are crazy for riding that,” said Julia. “It makes me sick looking at it.” “You are definitely not an adrenaline junky,” said Freddie. “Well Matt and I are coaster fanatics and we didn’t ride the Sidewinder,” said AnnaSophia. “An adrenaline junky does not have to ride every roller coaster in existence you know.” “Yeah, I am just obsessed with them,” said Freddie. Julia just sat there and watched them debate over who likes coasters and doesn’t. She was laughing at them. “I’m glad I’m not involved in this,” Julia laughed. They passed Storm Runner’s hydraulic building, located at the base of the top hat which resembled a jail house. “Anyone who does not like roller coasters, we’ll put in there,” Freddie joked. “Freddie…” said AnnaSophia. “There’s no need to go that far!” “I know,” he replied. “Sorry Julia, I was sort of referring to you.” “I’d wish you stop bugging me about not liking to ride coasters,” said Julia. “It’s starting to get annoying.” “Okay I will,” said Freddie. Continuing along the trestle, they saw some Indians huddled on the top of the hillside near Storm Runner’s launch track. They also heard the howls from them, thanks to a hidden speaker positioned down alongside the hill. “I never heard that before,” said Matt. “Those Indian sounds are new.” Eventually, they crossed the path which connected the Trailblazer area to the Sidewinder/Storm Runner area followed by the Trailblazer coaster itself. “I remember that dip under the bridge,” said AnnaSophia. “That was so cool!” “Yeah, I remember you saying that coaster was more thrilling then it looked,” Julia commented. Making a slight turn, they passed an Indian village followed by another turn where a mechanical snake head stuck out of the hedge of brush and sprayed water at the train. “Ahhhh!” AnnaSophia screeched. “That startled me!” “Me too!” Julia laughed. Turning around the bend, they passed a ghost town where they heard old west saloon music being played. A mechanical figure resembling a bank robber came out of a doorway and stopped. “Cool,” said Freddie. “I’m into westerns!” “You are definitely a wild guy,” Matt joked. Freddie laughed. “Yeah, I guess I am!” They passed underneath Trailblazer’s lift hill and Storm Runner’s final brake run, while catching a glimpse of Storm Runner’s loading station. “That ride ROCKS!” said Freddie. “I can’t say anymore then I am now!” “Yeah it does,” AnnaSophia added. “But it’s just a coaster; it’s not your god!” “I know,” Freddie replied. “I’m just a wild and crazy character!” After crossing a second, but shorter, trestle, and as they made a turn, the engineer blew the whistle loudly as they approached a railroad crossing while gaining some speed after traveling slowly for a good duration of the ride. Passing the railroad crossing, they passed the Sidewinder before entering a tunnel. Emerging from the tunnel, they saw the backs of some of the buildings in the Pioneer Frontier food court area before the engineer slowed down as the train approached the second tunnel right before the station. “That was a nice and relaxing ride,” said AnnaSophia. “It’s definitely more my speed,” said Julia. “This is where Freddie and I really differ.” “I think we can tell that from some of the recent conversations lately,” said AnnaSophia. After exiting the train platform, they made their way over to the Pirate, a Huss pirate ship built for the park in 1980. They entered the queue and watched the boat swing back and forth. “I’m deciding if I want to back out of this or not,” said Julia as she studied the boat swinging back and forth. “Oh, you’ll like it,” said Matt encouraging her to stay in line with them. “It’s not like a roller coaster.” “Well….” Julia added. “Okay, I’ll ride it!” “Yay!” said AnnaSophia clapping her hands, as the boat stopped swinging. After the boatload of riders disembarked, they decided to go towards the back of the boat on the one side facing Storm Runner. “I love to ride in the back of these things!” said AnnaSophia. “Yeah, it makes you think you’re gonna go way up straight,” Freddie replied. “Ummm, I don’t know,” said Julia as she gripped onto the lapbar tightly. “I’m stuck now.” “Freddie, why did you have to say that,” said AnnaSophia. “Ooops, sorry Julia,” said Freddie covering his mouth. Suddenly the boat began to swing. It kept on swinging back and forth higher and higher until it reached its highest point. Everyone screamed loudly, especially the people sitting further towards the back. After several swings, the boats came to a smooth stop. “That was awesome,” said Freddie as they exited the boat. “Yeah,” Julia agreed. I was terrified for a bit but it was not all that bad.” As the dinner hour was quickly approaching, they decided on a good place that they could eat for dinner. So they decided to walk out towards Midway America. But before that, Freddie caught attention of The Claw; Hershey’s newest flat ride installed by Chance Morgan, Inc. for the 2003 season. “Anyone want to ride?” Freddie suggested. “Looks like you’re solo for this one,” said Matt. “That ride does turn my stomach.” So while Freddie got in line, Matt, AnnaSophia and Julia stood by the railing and decided to watch the ride swing back and forth. Freddie’s group was just entering the ride as they walked over to view it. Freddie chose a seat near where they were standing, so they all waved at him. Once everyone was strapped in and pulled down their restraints, the floor was lowered and the ring of seats began to rotate. Suddenly, the massive arm began to swing back and forth higher and higher as the ring kept rotating. When the ring got to its highest point, it rotated some more, then swung back again while rotating. “Boy, what they come up with these days,” said Julia. “I never saw a ride like that before.” “I think there was a lot of stuff that was new to you while you were here today,” Matt said to her. “Yeah, I counted at least two other rides I don’t ever remember seeing other then this one,” Julia replied back. “I think ride designers today are totally out of their minds!” AnnaSophia giggled. “Yeah but they want to fulfill their purpose, to scare the living daylights out of you!” “That’s for sure,” Julia agreed. “Look how I was on that Pirate ship over there.” “Yeah, but you ended up liking it,” said Matt. “I know,” said Julia. “It’s just that first ride that bugs you.” The ride began to slow and eventually, stop swinging and rotating. Freddie met them at the exit. “That was awesome!” said Freddie. “I’ve never seen or ridden anything like it before!” They started to make their way back towards Midway America and just strolled along admiring the scenery around the path. As they approached the Canyon River Rapids and Tidal Force area, the crowds began to swell as everyone was drawn to the abundance of water rides that were offered in this area. When they walked past the Tidal Force area, AnnaSophia and Julia ran over and mingled in with all the other guests at the spray zone. Suddenly, a boat full of riders aboard Tidal Force came plunging down the 100 foot spillway crashing into a pond sending a massive tidal wave drenching the riders in the boat as well as on the bridge and along the edge of the walkway. A wet AnnaSophia and Julia came walking back meeting up with Freddie and Matt. “Boy that felt good,” said AnnaSophia. “I needed that!” “Me too!” Julia agreed. “That was a nice cool off!” After a brief cool off at by Tidal Force, they decided to eat dinner before experiencing more of the park’s activities as their adventure continues.

CHAPTER SIX
Continuing their adventure at Hersheypark, Matt, AnnaSophia, Freddie and Julia made their way into the Midway America themed area of Hersheypark. “Hey, why don’t we split a pizza at that pizza place,” AnnaSophia suggested. “Yummy!” said Julia rubbing her stomach. So they walked over to Famous Famiglia Pizza and ordered a pepperoni pizza, then decided to go sit at a nearby table overlooking Tidal Force’s splash zone. “I would never ride that,” Julia commented. “Standing over there along the walkway was good enough for me!” “Me too,” said AnnaSophia as she stuffed a piece of pizza into her mouth. “What was your favorite ride today if yous have one?” Matt asked. “Storm Runner!” Freddie immediately chimed in. “And nothing else either!” “I should have figured that one out by now,” Matt joked. “If he would not have said Storm Runner, I would’ve been disappointed,” Julia commented. “I thought the Great Bear was really cool,” said AnnaSophia. “I also liked the Kissing Tower and the monorail. They both provided exceptional views of stuff.” “Yeah, those were probably my favorites too,” Julia agreed. “At least I got to see the chocolate factory and the real Hershey Kiss lights from those rides!” “I also liked the factory tour thing,” AnnaSophia said. “And me chewing gum in there was definitely appropriate!” The others laughed as they finished their pizza. “Where are we going next?” asked Julia. “Let’s do a calm ride next,” AnnaSophia suggested. “You know, and let our stomachs settle.” “How about the Ferris Wheel over there,” said Matt. “I always enjoy riding that ride when I’m in the mood for relaxation!” “Okay,” said AnnaSophia. Everyone else agreed. So after they left Famous Famigila Pizza, they walked back a path alongside Lightning Racer until they ended up over by the Ferris Wheel. They all made their way up the long ramp and waited for the ride to stop spinning so they could board. “Now this is something I do admire,” Julia commented. “The Ferris Wheel. Blackpool Pleasure Beach has one that was twice this size!” “Yeah, I remember that,” said Freddie. “Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of it though.” “Me neither,” Julia replied. “That’s a shame,” said AnnaSophia. “I hate when I can’t remember stuff like that.” “I don’t know a whole lot about that park so I don’t know what the rides were named,” said Matt. “I just know of the park and some of the stuff they have there.” The operator stopped the ride and they all cat nice and comfortably in their gondola. Then the operator began the ride again. They slowly glided upward where they got a fantastic view of the Wildcat roller coaster, the Merry Derry Dip Fun Slides, Wild Mouse and the Chaos. As they kept revolving, they took in a nice view of Lightning Racer on the other side and revolved right through the station platform until they stopped for some more riders to get on. “The view from up here is spectacular,” said AnnaSophia. “I remember that roller coaster,” said Freddie. “Didn’t we see that when Julia drove into the parking lot?” “Yes the other side of it along with the Ferris Wheel behind it,” said Matt. “Yes, I remember that,” said AnnaSophia as she pointed out to the parking lot and the stadium, all of which were right behind the Wildcat. “Right out there’s the parking lot.” After several revolutions, the operator finally stopped them at the station platform and they disembarked. “I liked that ride,” said Julia. “The breeze was nice from up there.” As they exited the ride, they heard music so they walked over and took a seat at one of the “Green’s Ice Cream” tables to watch a performance of a new show for 2005 called “The Milkmen” which consisted of four men dressed like Milkmen, with billboard ads for Hershey’s Cocoa, along with an old fashioned milk truck parked there at the stage. The four men sang songs such as “My Girl”, “Soul Man”, “Summertime Blues” and “Surf’n U.S.A” Julia and AnnaSophia got up and started dancing and clapping to the music while Freddie and Matt just sat there and enjoyed the show. “Boy this is so much fun,” said AnnaSophia. “I had never had so much fun since filming Winn Dixie and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!” Julia giggled. “I have to agree!” After the show, they all started walking over towards Lightning Racer. “Matt, remember our deal?” AnnaSophia blushed. “On the Comet and Lightning Racer? “ “Yes,” said Matt. “I was gonna ride those two coasters with you before Freddie.” “Cool, are we gonna ride it now?” AnnaSophia giggled. “I remember you telling me it’s so much fun!” “Yes, we’ll ride it then I’ll ride it with Freddie.” “I am ready for another roller coaster,” said Freddie. “I’m ready to conquer!” “You will conquer once Anna and I are done,” said Matt. “Oh Matt, can we ride both sides?” AnnaSophia suggested. “Sure,” said Matt. “I like to ride both sides. Matt and AnnaSophia made their way through the long and windy queue which led inside the station and up a ramp to the loading area. They decided to ride the Lightning “red train” side of the coaster first. They went immediately for the front seat. Since a train was dispatching as they arrived at the platform, they watched as both trains ascended the lift hills outside the station and then disappeared into the massive wooden structure outside the station. “I’ve never been on a dueling roller coaster before,” said AnnaSophia. “You are gonna love this coaster, it’s my absolute favorite wooden coaster in the park!” Matt commented. “Then it has to be good!” AnnaSophia blushed. Suddenly the trains raced into a duel outside the station and then disappeared into the wooden structure again. “That really looks like fun!” said AnnaSophia. “I don’t think I was ever this excited about riding a wooden roller coaster before!” The trains finally entered the station and a red flashing light on their side went off as the Lightning train won the race. “Cool,” said AnnaSophia. “I hope we win the race this time!” After the riders departed the train, Matt and AnnaSophia climbed into the front seat and pulled down their seat. “The seats are very comfortable on these trains,” said AnnaSophia. “They do add to overall ride experience,” Matt replied. After they were dispatched from the station, they rolled down a dip underneath the lift hills and rolled around a few turns and met up with the green “Thunder” train at the two staggered lift hills. They slowly ascended the lift hill to the sound of the very loud chain lift. Once the crested the staggered lift hills, they made their way down the twisted steep first drop and back up another twisted hill where they ran alongside the other train. Suddenly the tracks split as they hugged the outside of a tunnel and into two huge fan turns where the first duel took place where the two trains made a near collision before entering the long dark tunnel. Emerging from the tunnel, the trains continued to race each other, until the tracks split again where they made another near collision with the other train. After the second duel, the trains entered a section where Thunder goes over Lightning and Lightning goes over Thunder as the tracks criss crossed over each other followed by the final duel where, again, they made a near collision before racing to the finish line. The Lightning train slipped ahead and won the race at the finish line. “Yay!” AnnaSophia yelled giving Matt a high five. “We won the race!” The entered the station where a red flashing light blinked showing they won the race. “That’s too awesome!” said AnnaSophia as they walked down the exit ramp. “I gotta buy another on-ride photo from this ride!” “I think I might as well,” Matt agreed. After buying their on-ride photos, they met up with Julia and Freddie outside the Lightning Racer gift shop. “We’re going to ride the other side,” said AnnaSophia. “Then you can ride it with Matt then!” “Okay, cool!” said Freddie. “You seemed to like it!” “I not only liked it” AnnaSophia told him, “I loved it! The ride is absolutely awesome and really smooth!” Matt and AnnaSophia re-entered and made their way back up the long queue to into the station. They immediately made their way to the front of the green “Thunder” side of the station. “The Lightning side is better then this side,” said Matt. “But I still like to ride both sides if I can.” When the train came back and rolled to a stop, they climbed in and pulled down their lap bar. When the train was fully loaded, they were dispatched. “I saw Lightning won again,” said AnnaSophia. “I sure do hope we win this race again!”

They made ascended the loud chain lift and rumbled through the course again. Following the third duel, their train suddenly picked up speed and managed to beat the Lightning train to the finish line. “Yay!” yelled AnnaSophia. “We did it again!” “This very rarely happens where I ride both sides and win both times, “said Matt. “Usually I might ride won side and win there and then lose on the other side.” “Wow,” said AnnaSophia as they exited the station. “That’s awesome that I could to win both races with you, that’s something special I will always remember! Even when I film my next movie, I’ll be thinking about it!” Julia and Freddie came walking over. “Guess what,” AnnaSophia blew up in laughter. “We won both races on both sides!” “Wow!” said Julia. “Congratulations!” “Okay Matt,” said Freddie. “It’s time that I must now conquer the racer!” “Cool, I’m with you!” said Matt as they walked over towards the entrance. “I hope yous win!” AnnaSophia yelled as the boys made their way through the entrance. Matt told Freddie about the Lightning side so they made their way to the front of that side the station. “This has to be good if Anna was bragging about it,” said Freddie. “Yes, the ride is smooth,” said Matt. The train came rolling in and to a stop. The Thunder side had won the race. “Let’s keep our fingers crossed!” said Freddie as Matt and him climbed into the front seat and pulled down their lap bars. They were dispatched out of the station and ascended up the staggered lift hills. “Boy, the chain lift is noisy!” said Freddie. “I can hardly hear a think you’re saying because of the noise.” Again, making their way through the course, and pulling out of the third duel, they raced ahead of Thunder and won the race. “Cool,” said Freddie. “Here’s to my fellow coaster friend!” Matt laughed. “At least you’re not acting crazy here like you were on Storm Runner. After walking through the exit, AnnaSophia met up with them. “Hey I have an idea, let’s ride Lightning Racer one more time!” she suggested. “But, Matt and I will ride on Lightning and you can race us on Thunder, how does that sound?” “But one of us will lose,” said Freddie. “Exactly,” said AnnaSophia. “But we all enjoy roller coasters anyway, so it doesn’t matter if any of us lose.” “Yeah,” said Matt. “We’re here today to have fun together, who cares about a race, we all just got lucky!” “Yes,” said AnnaSophia. “Now let’s race!” “Okay!” said Freddie as they made their way back through the entrance one more time. Once they were inside the station, Freddie went to the front seat of the Thunder side and Matt and AnnaSophia went immediately to the front of the Lightning side. When the trains entered the station and the riders departed, they climbed into the front seat of their trains and pulled down their lap bars. After dispatching from the station and the trains rolled around to the lift hills, Freddie gave a thumbs up over to Matt and AnnaSophia in the Lightning train. After cresting the hills, they rumbled one last time through the course. Following the third duel, both trains raced towards the finish line and the Lightning train crossed an inch before the Thunder train. “Woohoo,” yelled AnnaSophia. “I’m just having my day winning on this thing!” Matt chuckled. “Well how about Freddie? He lost the race.” “Matt remember?” AnnaSophia added as they exited the station. “We were racing for fun!” “Yes, I just got a sensitive heart towards people,” Matt replied. “That’s great you feel that way,” said AnnaSophia. “Freddie will understand.” They all met up outside the Lightning Racer gift shop. “Hey good race!” said Freddie as he gave Matt and AnnaSophia a high five. “Yous beat me by an inch!” AnnaSophia giggled. “Yeah, wasn’t that insane?” “Wow, sounds like you had a close race!” said Julia. “We did,” said Freddie. “AnnaSophia and Matt beat me by an inch!” “Yeah, it was so close,” said Matt. They walked across Midway America to the Music Express. “Hey, let’s ride the Music Express!” said AnnaSophia. “Matt, let’s ride that together!” “Okay,” said Matt. Freddie and Julia decided to wait this ride. Meanwhile, Matt and AnnaSophia made their way onto the ride. “The music on this thing is insane,” said AnnaSophia. “I think they could do without it.” “Yeah, or turn it down,” Matt agreed. When everyone was seated, the ride slowly began to rotate and quickly picked up speed as it rotated up and down. AnnaSophia kept sliding into Matt as the ride spun around, up and down at its fastest speed. They both were laughing like crazy. “Ahhh!” yelled Matt as he exploded in total laughter. “You’re squashing me!” AnnaSophia kept blushing and giggling as the ride slowed down and came to a stop. “Sorry about that,” AnnaSophia giggled. “But it was fun!” “Yeah it was,” Matt agreed as they exited the ride. Moving their way along, they decided to ride the Whip next. Making their way into the queue, they watched the ride as it was currently in motion with a load of riders. “Wow, that thing is loud!” said Julia. “It’s because it’s in this enclosed structure,” said Matt. “Having this roof over the ride makes all the difference. Once the ride stopped, Matt and Freddie picked the nearest gondola and AnnaSophia and Julia climbed into the gondola behind them. “This is going to be fun!” said AnnaSophia. “I’ve never been on a ride like this before!” “I have,” said Julia. “At Blackpool Pleasure Beach, they had an older one with no headrests like this one has.” After the ride was loaded, the ride operator started the ride and their gondolas moved whipping them around both ends of the ride. The girls screamed and giggled as their gondola whipped them at each end. “They’re hilarious, aren’t they?” Freddie laughed. “They sure are!” Matt laughed along with him. The ride eventually stopped and they made their way through the exit. “Boy, that was fun,” said AnnaSophia still breaking out in laughter. “Man, I think that was the most I’ve ever seen you laugh,” Matt commented. “Especially today!” Walking up a slight hilly path through the other end of Midway America, they made their way over towards the Wild Mouse. “Hey, Anna and Matt,” said Freddie. “The three of us could ride that together, the cars seat four people!” “Okay,” said AnnaSophia. “But I prefer sitting in the front.” “Me too,” Matt agreed. “Okay, then I’ll sit in the back,” said Matt. So Matt, AnnaSophia and Freddie made their way through the queue and into the station where the cars were continuously moving as riders were loading and unloading them. AnnaSophia and Matt hopped in the front and Freddie in the back and they pulled down their lap bars. The car gained some speed as it turned out the station and ascended up the lift hill where they got a nice view of the park. The car then made its way through a series of zig zagged curves that gave them the sensation of falling off the track as well as intense bunny hop hills which eventually ended the ride. “That was cool,” said AnnaSophia. “The ride does not seem like that at all when you look at it from walkway.” “That’s what I love about it,” said Matt. “Me too,” Freddie agreed as they exited the station. They met up with Julia who was sitting on a nearby bench. The sun was beginning to set and all the lights within the area kicked on. “Oh, I bet this area is spectacular at night,” said AnnaSophia. “It is,” Matt replied. “I’ve seen it plenty of times; it’s totally a sight to see!” Freddie was pointing over to the Wildcat. “Hey, let’s ride it Matt!” “Sure thing!” said Matt. “We’ll be right back!” “Okay,” said AnnaSophia as she joined Julia over at the adjacent bench. Freddie and Matt made their way through the long queue line and up into the station. They dashed for the front seat. “I never have ridden this one in the front before!” said Matt. “So this will be a first for all of us.” “That’s cool!” said Freddie. The train came back into the station and rolled to a stop and all the riders departed. Matt and Freddie climbed into the front seat and pulled down their lap bars. When the train was loaded, they dispatched from the station made a turn and over a small dip before the lift hill. Ascending the lift hill, they took in the spectacular view of the parking lot, Hersheypark Drive and Midway America with all the lights on. Cresting the hill, they traveled down the 85 foot drop which made a sharp curve and back up into another sharp turn which snaked back over the second ascent and dropped into a sharp left turn underneath the lift hill followed by a bunny hop and another sharp fan turn and bunny hop before making another sharp left turn around the base of the fan turn they just exited. Following the sharp turn, they maneuvered through a very tight helix followed by a small bunny hop into the breaks. Freddie took a deep breath. “All I can say is…wow!” Matt laughed. “I did not expect that many turns,” Freddie commented as they exited the station. “There were turns and crossovers everywhere!” “Yes, a total of twenty times we were crossing in and out of the structure,” said Matt. “Whoa,” said Freddie in awe. “That is what I call a cool roller coaster!” They met up with AnnaSophia and Julia outside the exit. “Hey Matt, can I try it out?” said AnnaSophia. “Sure!’ said Matt. As Matt and AnnaSophia walked through the Wildcat’s entrance, Freddie wanted to ride the Chaos ride. “I’ll stay and wait for you all here,” said Julia. “Okay,” said Freddie. “I’ll be right back!” Julia just shook her head. “What an adrenaline junky!’ Meanwhile, AnnaSophia and Matt made their way through the long queue and into the Wildcat’s loading station and up to the front. There was a train sitting there waiting for riders so they immediately climbed in and pulled down their lap bars. “This was a first,” said AnnaSophia. “I don’t’ remember walking on a coaster like this the whole time we were here today.” “This has happened to me plenty of times,” Matt added. “But this was the first time today this has happened so you are right.” When the train was loaded, they dispatched from the station and made their way to the lift hill and then rumbled in, around and through the Wildcat’s twisted wooden structure. “Wow!” said AnnaSophia breathing a sigh of relief. “I survived that one for sure!” Matt laughed. “At least you got to ride all of Hershey’s wooden coasters today. “Yeah,” said AnnaSophia as they departed from the station. “And I won all times on Lightning Racer as well! That was the ultimate moment for me!” Matt and AnnaSophia met up with Julia by the Wildcat exit as they waited for Freddie to get off of Chaos. Meanwhile Julia suggested to AnnaSophia and Matt they try out the Merry Derry Dip Fun Slides while they waited. “You two go ahead, I’ll wait for Freddie,” said Matt. “We’ll come over and meet yous at the slides.” “Okay,” said AnnaSophia. “Thanks Matt, you’re the best!” When the Chaos stopped rotating and everyone departed the ride, Freddie met up with Matt at the exit. “That was awesome!” said Freddie. “I had no idea where I was going on that thing!” “That’s cool,” said Matt. “That ride makes me sick, like the Claw.” “By the way, where are the girls?” asked Freddie. “I don’t see them anywhere.” They’re over there on the slides,” said Matt as he and Freddie made their way over the Merry Derry Dip Fun Slides to wait for Julia and AnnaSophia to come off. Meanwhile, up on the top of the pink slide, Julia and AnnaSophia were given a burlap bag by the attendant. “Wheeee!” they both yelled as they slid down the slide, their hair flying all over the place. They finally met up with Freddie and Matt. “Boy that was fun!” said AnnaSophia as she slid her hand back through her blonde hair. “Yeah, I always like that kind of stuff,” said Julia. “It’s more of my speed.” They decided to start walking out of Midway America since they were pretty much done with that area. “I liked this area a lot,” said AnnaSophia. “It sort of reminded me of a county fair.” “Yes,” said Matt. “That’s what it’s supposed to; resemble a county fair or an old 1920’s style amusement park.” “So that probably is the answer for why the Wildcat was so twisted!” said AnnaSophia as she gawked up at the Wildcat’s twisted structure one last time. They walked back and just took in the park scenery as the sun set more and it was starting to get dark. They strolled back through Pioneer Frontier and into Music Box Way where they watched the lights on the rides. They saw Storm Runner’s top hat chance colors from violet, to green, orange and bright yellow. “That is so cool!” said AnnaSophia. “I never had seen a roller coaster light up that way before!” They took a nice stroll through the area. “ “Hey, let’s ride the cable cars!” Julia mentioned. “We never rode them yet!” “You mean the Skyview,” Matt mentioned. “Yes,” said Julia. “That’s what I meant.” “Hey Matt, let’s ride it together!” said AnnaSophia. “Okay,” Matt agreed. “I think you’re up to something that you have been wanting to ride with me a lot lately.” AnnaSophia giggled and blushed as they walked through the queue and into the station. They stood on yellow footprints on the cement so when the next gondola slowly glides up behind them, they could sit back and pull down their lap bar. Once AnnaSophia and Matt were snug in their gondola, Freddie and Julia slid onto their gondola behind them. They slowly glided out of the station and up over Comet Hollow where they took in a fantastic view of Great Bear. “Isn’t this fantastic,” AnnaSophia blushed. “The view is just amazing.” “I always like this ride because it gives me a chance to snap some good pictures,” said Matt. As they slowly glided up towards Great Bear, a Great Bear train ascended the lift hill, crested and rumbled loudly through the course starting with the helix followed by the first drop, vertical loop, immelman and barrel roll right over the Comet Hollow midway. “Wow, I didn’t realize how loud that thing was until we got right on top of it here,” said AnnaSophia. “I love to watch that run its course while I’m on this ride,” said Matt. “Yeah, it’s quite different,” AnnaSophia giggled. Their gondola began to slowly descend over Spring Creek where there were a few park guests in paddleboats below them in the creek. “That’s cute,” said AnnaSophia. “I wonder why we missed them.” “They’re a pay-per-ride attraction,” said Matt. “And besides we did too much today that we all forgot anyways.” “Yeah, you’re right,” said AnnaSophia. As they slowly descended some more, a sooperdooperLooper train came down the first drop, through the vertical loop and around the turn a round which was almost directly above them. They could hear an air brake which helped slow the train down through that part of the course. “I don’t remember hearing that when we rode that coaster,” said AnnaSophia. “You don’t hear it when you are on the ride because the train makes too much noise,” Matt explained. “Oh okay,” AnnaSophia giggled. “You seem to have knowledgeable answers to all my questions.” Matt laughed. “I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself today!” “I really had a lot of fun” AnnaSophia blushed and giggled some more. Their gondola made a “U turn” and started ascending back up over the creek again in the direction they just came from. They passed Julia and Freddie who yet had to make the turn back in their direction. They waved at each other. “I’m glad to see they’re enjoying themselves as well,” said Matt. “Yes,” AnnaSophia said. “Especially Freddie. He seems to really enjoy the roller coasters, especially that Storm Runner over there.” They watched as another Great Bear train came rumbling through the course. The sun was almost down and the lights were all on throughout Comet Hollow. As they crossed back over Great Bear’s massive structure, they took in the illuminated supports as well as the running lights over on the Comet. “This park looks so beautiful at night!” said AnnaSophia. “I can’t believe we have only an hour and a half left before the park closes,” said Matt. “Yeah, the time surely does fly when you’re having fun!” said AnnaSophia. They slowly glided back into the loading station where they lifted their lap bar and walked out the exit. Julia and Freddie followed behind them. “That was a nice and relaxing ride,” said Julia. “I’m glad we rode it.” “Yeah, I never realized the Great Bear was so loud until we got close to it there,” said Freddie. “But I love that roar!” “Hey I know something we forgot to ride!” said AnnaSophia. “The bumper cars! We need to ride the bumper cars!” “Oh yeah, we walked past them twice today and never rode them,” said Matt. “Okay,” said Julia. “That’s another ride I like.” They made their way over to the Fender Bender and down the queue. “Wow!” said AnnaSophia. “Look at those cool looking cars!” “Yes,” said Matt. “They’re probably my favorite bumpers cars at any theme parks I’ve been to.” “The lights and fluorescent paint rock,” said Freddie. “That’s my style!” After the cars stopped and the other riders disembarked, they made a mad dash across the floor to find an open car. Freddie sat in his car moving the steering wheel with a smirk across her face. “Haha! I’m ready for some revenge here!” “If that is what you want, then revenge is what your gonna get!” AnnaSophia said sitting in an adjacent car smirking back at him. After the operator started the ride, AnnaSophia made a mad dash for Freddie bumping his car and sending him spinning and hitting the side wall. “Ha!” said AnnaSophia. “All right, you won,” said Freddie. After a nice long ride, the ride stopped. “That was fun,” said Julia. “If only I didn’t get stuck in the jam over there.” “Yeah, that’s what I hate about bumper cars,” Matt agreed. “Are the people who do not know how to drive them properly.” As it was almost time for them to leave, they continued their adventure into the night for a few more rides before they decided to leave the park.

CHAPTER SEVEN
The evening continued on and the four kids decided to take in some more rides before their evening was over. AnnaSophia had a suggestion for their first ride that night. “Hey can we ride the Kissing Tower one last time?” asked AnnaSophia. “I want to see what the park looks like from up there at night.” “Yeah, the view from up there is spectacular at night,” said Matt. “I’d like to ride it again,” said Julia. “Me too,” said Freddie. “I think I’m all coastered out from today!” “Yeah, you should be!” Julia said to him. They made their way back the high level bridge into Minetown. “Cool, look at that Flying Falcon!” said AnnaSophia pointing to the tower in which the lights were flashing off and on. “That is cool to look at in the night,” said Matt. They continued walking back until they reached Tower Plaza again. They got in line and waited until the cabin descended and stopped. The attendant opened the doors and let the previous riders disembark. “This is going to be so cool!” said AnnaSophia. After everyone was seated, the cabin started to ascent and the lights went off on the inside of the cabin. They viewed the park with all the lights on while listening to the narration again. “Wow!” said AnnaSophia. “Look out there at Midway America. It looks so spectacular!” “The Ferris Wheel is really lit up,” said Julia pointing out to it. “And look at the Lightning Racer over there, isn’t that neat!” The cabin slowly descended and came to a stop. “That was really nice,” said AnnaSophia. “I’m glad I mentioned about riding it again.” “It was worth riding again, the park looked so neat!” said Julia. “Yeah, too bad Storm Runner didn’t have more lights,” said Freddie. “You and your Storm Runner,” said Julia. Freddie chuckled as they made their way back through Minetown. “I had so much fun today, I really hate to leave, “said AnnaSophia as they walked back across the high-level and into Music Box Way. It was about nine o clock when they walked across Music Box Way and back through Der Deitchplatz into Founder’s Circle. “Something else I took notice we skipped,” AnnaSophia suggested. “We didn’t ride the Carrousel yet. How about it guys?” “Yeah, I’d love to ride the Carrousel,” said Julia. They made their way over to the queue and watched the Carrousel spin while the old Wurlitzer band organ was playing different tunes. The Carrousel stop spinning and everyone disembarked. The four kids decided to ride the horses that go up and down so AnnaSophia and Matt rode next to each and Julia and Freddie behind them. “I love carousels!” said AnnaSophia. “I love listening to the music on them.” “Me too,” Julia agreed. They took a nice relaxing ride on the Carrousel while it spun them around very fast while they enjoyed the tunes of the old Wurlitzer band organ. Suddenly, it stopped and they disembarked. “Very relaxing, “said Julia. “But then, who does not hate relaxing rides?” Everyone else agreed with her. Before deciding to leave, they strolled around Founder’s Circle taking a look at the newly renovated area one more time. “These shade arbors look nice at night,” said Matt. “They look a lot better then the old ones used to look, especially at night!” “I remember you commenting on those when we arrived here this morning,” said AnnaSophia. “Oh yeah, I did,” said Matt.” “I almost forgot!” “Let’s ride that Starship America one more time,” said AnnaSophia. “That was such a neat ride!” “Sure, we’ll make it our last ride of the night if it’s okay with all of you,” said Matt. “Sure thing!” Julia agreed. “I’m all ridden out for today!” They made their way across Founder’s Circle and over to Starship America to take their last ride of the night. They made there way in and got into their rockets. After the ride was loaded, the ride started to rotate and spin faster and faster until they were able to move their rockets up and down. “Wooohooo!” yelled AnnaSophia. “I love this ride!” After a nice long ride, they eventually came to a slow stop and departed the ride. “That was definitely a nice way to end the night!” said AnnaSophia. “What do you think guys?” “Yes!” said Julia. “Now I know I am all ridden out!” Before walking out of Founder’s Circle, they caught the Hershey’s Bar and Reese Peanut Butter Cup characters and Matt snapped a picture of AnnaSophia, Julia and Freddie with them, as well as the characters by themselves. “Awww, they are so dear,” said AnnaSophia. “I’m glad we ran into them!” “Me too,” Julia agreed. “I love meeting characters. They walked out of Founder’s Circle where Matt snapped a quick night picture of the bronze Milton S. Hershey statue, and then they headed through Rhineland. “I love jazz music!” said AnnaSophia. “Although why they are using it for a German themed area, that will be a tough one to figure out.” Walking down the hill through Rhineland, they decided to browse through Hershey Souvenirs and Gifts, located inside the main entrance. After seeing nothing of interest, they made their way out of Rhineland and through the exit gates into Tudor Square. “What a super nice day I had!” said AnnaSophia. “I really don’t want to see it end!” Before walking out of Tudor Square, they quickly browsed through the Tudor Square Mercantile where Matt bought a “Welcome To Hersheypark” CD from the park’s resident music man, “Mr. Music” and AnnaSophia bought a bag of Hershey’s Kisses. “I can’t resist leaving here today without taking some Hershey’s Chocolate home with me!” said AnnaSophia as they walked out of the building. “Hershey’s Chocolate…”Julia added. “Surely better then the Wonka Bar!” “Ah the Wonka Bar!” Freddie chimed in. “The golden ticket, I guess our Hersheypark tickets were our ‘Golden Tickets’ into the park today.” “Yeah, I guess they were, “said AnnaSophia. “That’s funny, I never even thought of it that way!” Leaving Tudor Square, they heard the “Hersheypark Happy” jingle being played while walking towards the tram circle. “That’s sort of a catchy tune,” said AnnaSophia. “I sort of like it!” “Yes, I always liked that,” said Matt. “It can get sort of in your head if you want to!” They continued up a path running parallel to the tram road where they saw trams traveling to and from the tram circle transporting guests out to the far parking lots. “The park didn’t seem to be that busy for a Wednesday,” said AnnaSophia. “We walked on a lot of rides today.” “I thought we rode quite a bit of rides as well,” Matt added. They walked right across the parking lot and over to Julia’s BMW Sport Wagon where Julia opened the back tailgate so they could put their souvenirs and water bottles in the back. “This is a nice advantage of coming early,” said Julia. “We have a great parking spot.” “Yes,” Matt agreed. “We were one of the first in the parking lot this morning.” “I’m starting to get tired,” AnnaSophia said as she slid into the back seat. “Yeah, from all that walking we did today,” said Julia as she closed the back tailgate and slid into the driver’s seat. “You know how to get home, right?” said Matt as he slid into the passenger’s seat next to Julia. “Yes, I remember how we got here,” said Julia. “I’ll be alright if you want to sleep.” “Oh I’m not tired though,” said Julia. “But I think AnnaSophia is about to doze out back there.” “I think she’s just about out,” said Freddie. Matt instructed Julia to drive towards the main entrance, once she shifted in the car into first gear. They got one last view of the Wildcat with its running lights before Julia turned left onto Hersheypark Drive. “Nice,” said AnnaSophia then she dozed off to sleep. Once Julia turned onto Hersheypark Drive, she gunned the motor and threw the car right through all gears very fast since there was not that much traffic on the road that hour of the night. “You’re surely slick at driving this car,” said Matt. “Yeah, as I said before, I love driving stick shift,” said Julia. “I just love to drive!” They got one last view of the GIANT Center as Julia drove through the Park Boulevard intersection. “That’s a cool place,” said Freddie. “It even looks cooler at night.” They gazed at all the restaurants, hotels and other places along Hersheypark Drive before Julia drove onto Route 322 west towards Harrisburg. For a while, things were a little quiet as Julia was concentrating on her driving and AnnaSophia was sleeping in the backseat. Suddenly AnnaSophia woke up. “We left Hershey already, wow; I must’ve been really tired!” AnnaSophia yawned. “We’re actually making good time,” said Julia. “You’re certainly not going to find a lot of traffic after ten at night.” “Yeah,” AnnaSophia agreed. “I was thinking about all the roller coasters I have ridden today,” said Freddie. “And my favorite, without a doubt, was Storm Runner. My next favorite was probably Great and the Wildcat.” “I thought the Wildcat was sort of rough,” said AnnaSophia. “It was my least favorite out of the wooden coasters.” “Yeah,” Matt agreed. “I do agree with you.” “Lightning Racer was my favorite wooden roller coaster,” said AnnaSophia. “Followed by the Comet, then the Wildcat!” “The Kissing Tower and monorail were my favorites,” said Julia. “I also liked the cable cars and the whip, they were nice as well as the carousel.” “I thought the Skyview was sort of cozy and relaxing,” AnnaSophia blushed. “I think something is on your mind,” Freddie added. “I can tell it!” AnnaSophia blushed again and did not comment but instead, broke out in giggles. “I hope we can do something like this again soon,” said Julia. “Is there anything else we can travel to together?” “Hmmm,” Matt said while trying to think. “Let’s see now.” “Well,” Julia said as she shifted down to fifth gear. “Independence Day is coming up; maybe we could get together at my house for a cookout. It would be the first Independence Day that we would spend together. We could talk about another trip then.” “Yeah,” said Matt. “It looked like you had a huge yard,” AnnaSophia commented. “You’re house would be the perfect place!” “How about I call or email all of you tomorrow,” said Julia. You know, with further details.” “Okay,” Matt agreed. “This is the first time I’ve spent a holiday with friends since some other friends of mine sold their home and went traveling the country in their R.V. We used to go their house and watch fireworks together.” “It sounded like yous all had a great time,” said Julia. “Maybe I’ll start shopping for supplies this coming week.” “I can too,” AnnaSophia added. “Matt, would you want to help me?” “Sure,” said Matt. “Just email or call me when you want to go out.” “After I email you all with the details,” said Julia. “Okay, sounds like a plan,” said AnnaSophia. “I haven’t been to a bar-b-que in a long time,” said Freddie. “I am really looking forward to this.” Julia drove across the Susquehanna River where they saw the Harrisburg skyline with all the lights on. “The capital looks so beautiful at night,” AnnaSophia yawned. “I think I might fall asleep again.” She fell asleep again. Julia continued around the York split and down Interstate 83 south. She remembered to exit at the Lewisberry. “Wow, you remembered exactly how to get home,” said Matt. “I’m so proud of you!” “Thanks!” said Julia. “I can’t wait to get bed, this has been a tiring day doing all that walking and riding.” She drove down the windy road once again through the darkened countryside until she came to the town of Lewisberry. “These little towns are sort of neat,” said Freddie. “I like this countryside stuff.” “Yeah, I never realized I lived near so many towns, except Dover,” said Julia as she continued driving through the darkened countryside once again. Freddie started yawning. “Oh man, once I Matt gets Anna and I to her place, then I got a drive a few miles down the road to my place.” “At least you won’t have to go that far, “said Julia. “Yes,” Matt agreed. “You are just a few miles down the road.” “Yeah, I know,” said Freddie. “That’s one nice advantage, I guess!” Once Julia arrived at the intersection at Rossville, she turned left and traveled down Carlisle Road (Route 74) to Conewago Road where she turned right to reach her house. She finally pulled in the driveway and turned off the car. “Well we’re all back safe and sound,” said Julia. Freddie had to shake AnnaSophia as she was still asleep. “Oh were back,” said AnnaSophia as she yawned and rubbed her eyes. It’s not quite ten thirty yet.” “We mad extraordinary time!” said Julia as she opened the back tailgate. “There was hardly any traffic.” “Yeah,” said AnnaSophia as she got out from the back seat and fetched her water bottle. “I knew that from around Harrisburg.” “Hey thanks for driving us,” Matt said to Julia. “Sure,” said Julia as she gave Matt a hug. “I can’t wait for the bar-b-que!” “Me too,” said AnnaSophia. “I will email you all tomorrow,” said Julia. “But there is one thing I think we should do before yous leave!” “What’s that?” asked Freddie. “Well, I just really appreciate having you all as close friends,” Julia said. “I never had friends this close before. Being in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Anna and Freddie and meeting Matt a few days ago, yous all are so special!” “What is it you wanted us to do?” asked AnnaSophia. “I think we should shake on it and become soul siblings.” “Ah, you mean best friends for life!” said Freddie. “Sure!” “I’d love to!” said AnnaSophia “Cool!” said Matt. “I never had friends this close that we shook on it before!” “Well,” said Julia. “Then let’s do it!” They stood and each put one of their hands in and they shook them together. “Best friends forever,” said Julia. “Forever!” AnnaSophia agreed as she gave Julia a hug. “I’m getting tired, but I am happy we agreed to this!” “Thanks again,” said Matt as he unlocked his car and AnnaSophia slid into the back seat half tired. “For becoming one of my soul sisters!” Julia laughed as she waved at them and unlocked her front door and went inside. Once Freddie was in, Matt started to back out of Julia’s driveway. They went out and continued down Carlisle Road through Dover and back the roads to AnnaSophia’s apartment. They finally made it back safe and sound. “Ah, nice to be back,” said Freddie as he fetched his water bottle and hopped out of Matt’s Ford Focus. AnnaSophia finally woke up again. “Oh, we’re back again, I dozed off a third time since we left Hershey. I must be really tired!” “It’s best you get inside and get some sleep,” said Matt. “Yeah, I must get home,” said Freddie. “I’m glad I only live five minutes down the road!” “It won’t take me long to get home either,” said Matt. “Only about ten minutes.” “That’s another five minutes,” AnnaSophia added. “Drive safely and don’t get tired!” “I won’t,” said Matt as he and Freddie got into their cars. AnnaSophia waved at both of them as they backed out and drove away and then she walked back into her apartment.
The next morning, AnnaSophia rose out bed, got dressed and walked downstairs to the kitchen, grabbed a banana and walked back the hall to her computer to check out her email. Pulling up her Outlook Express account, she saw a message from Julia, which was sent out to her, Matt and Freddie. “Yes, the cookout!” AnnaSophia said to herself. Julia sent a checklist and divided everything so that they all could go out and buy the essentials for the cookout. “Cool,” AnnaSophia said to herself as she was typing back informing Julia that it would be okay for the two of them to buy everything. After AnnaSophia was finished emailing Julia, she immediately dashed out to the kitchen picked up the cordless phone and dashed back to computer again. She pulled up Julia’s message once again. “Hey Matt, it’s Anna!” “Oh hey there,” Matt replied. “I’m glad to hear that you are not too tired from yesterday. “Yep, I slept good last night,” AnnaSophia replied. “Anyways, I am calling to see if you checked your email; Julia sent all of us something about July fourth.” “Yep, I saw it,” Matt replied. “I was wondering, maybe you and I could go out and do our shopping together,” AnnaSophia suggested. “It will save both of us on gas.” “Okay,” said Matt. “We can do our shopping together if you want to. Remember, you mentioned it when we came home from Hershey last night.” “Sound’s great Matt,” said AnnaSophia. “And yes, I do remember saying that. July fourth is, like, next week!” “Yes,” said Matt. “When do you want to go out?” “How about this afternoon?” said AnnaSophia. “Then we don’t have to think about it anymore this week.” “Okay, I’ll come back over to your place and we’ll go from there.” “Alright, see ya in a little bit!” said AnnaSophia as they both hung up. As soon as AnnaSophia was finishing her lunch in the kitchen, the doorbell rang. She went dashing through the living room. “Hey Matt,” said AnnaSophia. “I was just finishing lunch.” “I had mine early,” Matt said. “I didn’t want to tempt myself and overdo on food!” “I totally understand,” said AnnaSophia. “It’s better we go after we eat lunch because we won’t be hungry then. That’s usually when I try to do my grocery shopping, when I’m not hungry.” “Okay, then I’ll go unlock my car while you get ready,” said Matt. “Well,” AnnaSophia added. “I was hoping you’d let me drive again!” “Okay,” said Matt. “No problem. I didn’t think you liked driving so much.” “Oh yeah,” said AnnaSophia as she went to fetch her car keys and purse. “But not as much as Julia for sure!” “It seems like I’ve been over here so much lately,” said Matt. “Yeah,” AnnaSophia giggled. “First you weren’t here at all, now you’re here all the time!” They walked out to AnnaSophia’s Ford Mustang. “I just love your car,” said Matt. “I can’t help but look at it when I come over.” AnnaSophia blushed as she slid into the driver’s seat. “You’re sweet!” She handed Matt the list that Julia typed. “Okay, this is what we should get then,” said Matt. “I didn’t even think to print out my list.” “It’s okay, said AnnaSophia, as she drove onto the Taxville Road and threw the car threw first gear up to fifth gear. “We don’t need two lists anyways if we’re both together.” AnnaSophia drove over to the Weis Markets grocery store in the Carlisle Commerence Center on White Street “This is usually where I do my grocery shopping,” she said as she parked the car. “I haven’t been in here in ages,” said Matt. “When I was little and I would go grocery shopping with my mom, this is where we’d go. They used to give out a free chocolate chip cookie at the bakery to little kids and I always looked forward to that!” “Awww,” said AnnaSophia. “I wonder if they still do that.” “I highly doubt it,” said Matt.” That was a long time ago.” “Well, that was sweet,” AnnaSophia blushed as she grabbed a shopping cart. “Okay, we need plastic utensils and paper plates. At least that is what Julia assigned to me to buy.” “I’m in charge of snacks,” said Matt. “I guess after you pick up the utensils, I’ll bag a large bag of cheese curls, chips and pretzels.” “This is so much fun!” said AnnaSophia. “I haven’t been to a cookout in a long time!” “Me too!” Matt agreed as he helped AnnaSophia with paper plates and plastic utensils. As they were walking past the meat isle, they bumped into Julia. “Hey there, what are you doing here,” said Matt “I had some errands to run this morning,” Julia replied. “So this was the closest grocery store where I was at so I stopped to buy my things for the cookout.” “Yeah,” AnnaSophia giggled. “I think this is so much fun!” “I can’t wait either!” said Julia. “I see yous have my email printed out.” “Makes a handy checklist,” said Matt. “Actually, Anna printed it out on her printer.” “Cool,” said Julia. “I don’t need one since I know what everyone is bringing. Have yous heard from Freddie at all?” “Nope,” said AnnaSophia. “Have you?” “He replied to my email this morning saying he’ll buy his things but that’s it,” Julia replied. “By the way, I had a fabulous time at Hershey. I wish I could’ve ridden the roller coasters but I am just not into that kind of stuff.” “We understand,” said AnnaSophia. “I’m just happy you and Freddie were able to come along with us!” “Me too,” said Matt. “I really enjoyed spending some time with you guys yesterday. Julia smiled. “Well, I really appreciate having yous as close friends. I’m glad we shook on it last night and are sole siblings!” “Yeah,” said AnnaSophia. “This is really special to me,” said Matt.” That the four of us like each other so much that we agreed to be friends for life.” “Well, I must let yous get back to your July fourth shopping,” said Julia. “I will email you all again about a time when yous can come over to my house!” “Sounds sweet!” said AnnaSophia. “See you on the fourth!” “Bye!” said Julia as she continued on with her shopping cart. After AnnaSophia and Matt bought all their essentials for the cookout, they paid for them and AnnaSophia pushed the shopping cart full of essentials out to her car while Matt was walking along with her. “Okay, we have all of our things,” said AnnaSophia, as Matt helped her put the grocery bags in the backseat. Matt went and pushed the cart up to the front of the store and AnnaSophia drove over to pick him up. “You are the nicest person,” said Matt. “Remember,” said AnnaSophia with both hands leaned on the steering wheel. “We’re soul siblings!” She then shifted into gear and they drove off. “Yep!” said Matt. AnnaSophia blushed as she drove back to her apartment. “Well I guess I’ll see you on July fourth!” “How about I come here and pick you up and we can ride up to Julia’s together,” Matt suggested. “Okay,” AnnaSophia blushed. “Maybe we can ask Freddie too!” “Okay, sounds cool!” said Matt as he transferred his things from AnnaSophia’s car to his car. “And by the way, I can’t help but take notice of all the blushing you’ve been doing to me lately.” AnnaSophia giggled as she walked into her apartment with her things the she waved at him. “You are the sweetest!” Matt laughed as he got into his Ford Focus. “See you on July fourth!”
The rest of the week went by and Saturday morning came quickly. Matt had been checking his email all week to see if there if Julia has sent her second message. Finally, he dialed to the internet and opened his email, this time he saw a message to him, Freddie and AnnaSophia informing them to be at Julia’s house around eleven in the morning. Later on that morning, the phone rang. “Hey Matt, it’s AnnaSophia again!” “Hey soul sister!” Matt joked. AnnaSophia giggled. “You are the best Matt!” “Thanks, you too!” said Matt. “I’m assuming you’re calling about Julia’s email.” “Yep,” AnnaSophia replied. “I called Freddie and he said he’s gonna drive to Julia’s himself, so it will be just you and me going together!” “Cool,” said Matt. “By the way, I’ll drive this time.” “Yes, you did agree to that,” AnnaSophia agreed. “And I will stick by what you said.” “Thanks Anna!” said Matt. “You are one of the nicest friends I have!” “Awww, why thank you!” said AnnaSophia. “Same to you too!” “Well, I better let you go, I will see you on July fourth!” said Matt with a lot of excitement. “I’m excited about this!” “Me too!” said AnnaSophia. “I’ll see ya then!” “Bye!” said Matt as they hung up. As the four kids, now soul siblings, return from an exciting day at Hersheypark together, the anticipation builds as they prepare for another exciting day together as they celebrate July fourth, the birthday of this great nation!

Well, that the first story guys! I'm sorry it does not look right on here, I really wish you would consider making a "fan fiction" section on the site somewhere, Liz. This series would be alot easier to read in Word since it was originally created in Word.
You'll just have to wait now for the continuation into story two - "Disney Mania!"
